There is over a 50% chance we get the 5th pick if we have the worst record

14% we get the top pick

Not good odds

Then let’s make a deal. It’s time to go get it. We can’t keep messing around in these drafts. And with the way it’s looking, it’ll be cheaper. I’d rather go all in on that pick than ad. If it costs us kd then so be it. Zion on the knicks will be the hottest ticket in the league. Everything changes. And we’ll have time.

I know I sound crazy. I’m willing to wear that mustard on my shirt. I’m just not that impressed with these high dollar guys.

Are you willing to mortgage the long term for a high potential short term shot at a championship? If you are that’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with that. I’ll be happy. I don’t know how satisfied I’ll be when it’s over and we’re back to the drawing board again though.

I just have a feeling about this prospect. And I’m not that high on these current big name guys man. They’re flaky. I’m not saying this prospect is better. I just think that’s the better way to go. And I’ve never been one of these guys to overvalue draft picks, young players, or cheer for losses.

dude every team that drafts zion says no you’re setting yourself up for big time disappointment. there is no trading up for him like there was no trading up for lebron and anthony davis.

KD signing with the Knicks this offseason is much higher probability then the Knicks landing Zion.

Tobias to Philly... i suppose this means:

A) Jimmy stays
B) Clippers more ammo for AD trade
C) EC slightly better

Refer to my "dominos need to fall" post to really get my beliefs. I just got blindsided but feel I cleared it up in that post Im referring to.

Kyrie a little less reason to stay in Boston. Needs a super team posse at the Garden. The Green is Tatum’s team soon.

Ainge keeps floating the fact he will make it worth NOLA's while to wait until this summer to trade AD but he doesn't realize he is doing himself a disservice in the eyes of players who are watching. They will likely see it as disloyalty to Tatum that he is allowing his name to be toiled in rumors as a deal sweetener until then.

Pressure on Ainge, especially if Philly beats them.

Philly Playoff run = higher odds Kyrie demands super team (whether here, there, or elsewhere).

Just as a general trade candidate for the NBA. LAC has reasons to move him now especially if they don’t want to overpay for him.

IE if BKN says we’re not getting Durant, would they trade for him now.

is he committing to the nets ? otherwise who would do that ?

All this KD to NY stuff is a bit similar to the Lebron to LAL talk from last year

Is it really happening?

Nice. Another team they could not show up for when needed.

Pretty soon guys like Ainge and Cuban thinking they can change any players mind by trading for them despite their team not being on that player's list will be perceived as disrespectful arrogance.

This may bite Ainge & Cuban in the ass eventually. Especially considering KP can still take the QO and bounce and Kyrie could leave Boston and AD as well if they give up the farm for him and he is unmoved in his stance of not feeling Boston.

Knicks are making their moves but not appearing as arrogant. The rest of the league is talking about their chances to get KP, yet they just keep saying they are focusing on their plan to get young players and if players come to occupy our space then it hopefully means the perception of the organization is changing. Saying that they want players who want to be here. The humble approach may work.

They gave up a bunch of replaceable bench pieces and late 1st round picks for a starter that fits their core seamlessly and could help get them to the Finals this season. I mean they replaced the corpse of Wilson Chandler with one of the most elite shooters\scorers in the league

What team is looking forward to playing them in the playoffs? I don't think any team is

Did the report say the picks were unprotected?

Who cares?

I think NBA GMs do. It provides incredible flexibility for years in the future, no matter if the pick is 30th overall. There's a reason there was only one unprotected 1st floating around the league before the Knicks made it two with the KP deal.

4 unprotected 1st rounders is an absurd proposition to me. Even if they're all protected just top-1 I'd agree with you, but getting picks completely rawdog is a game changer in my view (which is also why I'd never in a million years make that offer for AD).

Buzz, check out the wording on Woj's tweet:

That Miami pick - the only other unprotected 1st floating around the league besides the one the Mavs just gave the Knicks - is "one of [the] league's most coveted picks".
