The good news is you don't have to buy an Xbox to play it. Game Pass Ultimate is a legitimately solid service with hundreds of games, including Oblivion, and all you need is a controller and good internet.

How does it work with a controller and my TV or computer?
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Here's the link. Have to have a Microsoft account and an Xbox Live Ultimate subscription. There's a lot of games you can play with your keyboard and mouse, but when I play away from the house, I connect a controller to my computer via Bluetooth and when I click on a game in my browser (I use Chrome) it auto-detects the controller and away I go.

Recommendations on a good but not crazy expensive controller?

Can't go wrong with the basic Xbox controller.

I believe it's been confirmed it's on PS5 and PC as well FWIW.

Not calling out but flipped the Xbox on to download this afternoon to be ready for when I’m off work.

Oh man, only played about 20 minutes over lunch but was immediately struck by how smooth and fluid everything was. After playing Skyrim for 1000 hours over the last 14 years it was extremely cool to see essentially the same game given a new engine and a great coat of paint.

This is super going to eat up just a ridiculous amount of time.

Skyrim is objectively the better game, but I liked Oblivion's story better and was always drawn more to the world/map of Cyrodiil. Just way more diversity in locations/terrain and it felt more vibrant.

20 years ago I built my first PC to play this game. Like Ron, I know Skyrim is better, but Oblivion always held a place in my heart because of the hype I had for it then. And now. Shadowdropping it was such a sick move. I really tuned out the rumors until about two weeks ago when it became really obvious, so it's just like...suddenly here. With new leveling and sick graphics (Khajiit look so good!). LFG.

Oh man... why did this have to drop in the middle of NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft?

I actually disagree Morrowind and Oblivion are both more enjoyable to me than Skyrim. The story and most quest lines in skyrim left a lot to be desired for me.

Skyrim is better overall just because it was more recent, and they've done so many new releases with minor tweaks over the years. I probably have more hours into it.

But the story in Oblivion is just leaps better IMO. And the nostalgia is wild. But this remaster is how it should be done. Take the old game and rebuild it from the ground up, tweak some things to make the QoL better, and shadow drop it. Just a master class in how to do it right. The game is incredibly, looks beautiful, combat is fluid. I've got about 1.5 hours in and the only issue I've had so far is some stuttering but I turned it down to High instead of Ultra settings and it fixed it.

Welp, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is apparently a masterpiece, GOTY frontrunner.

Not quite sure how this has escaped my gravitational pull on games, but this looks insane and I cannot wait.

Does oblivion start in jail? I remember getting it and playing then like alot of bethesda games i had some system glitches and issues and had to restart after about 2 hours of play. Decided to never play again. Just finished avowed so I guess i can kill a couple hundred hours playing the remastered :-)

I'm at a conference so on hotel wifi. Oblivion has been downloading for almost 24 hours (there's some lost signal in there). Probably won't get to play til this weekend.

So excited to hear that Expedition 33 is amazing. I was a little skeptical at first but the story sounds incredible. Will be next on my list after I sink time into Oblivion.
