Gets a backup C rim protector who fits our ethos. Kemba is basically this year's Dragic. Draft Eason with their pick. Sign Porter with some/all of the MLE.

fred is worth more than 11, unless masai and boby love someone at that spot ala giannis back in the day.

I think he can be Tyler Herro 2.0 off our bench. He might be looking to be a starter though so I don't know. But I think he would be a great fit for this club.

A Combo Guard with Size and Shooting ability. Can he be had with the MLE?

I think DDV at the moment is looking for the biggest contract he can get his hands on this summer and not as much looking for a starter/bench situation but rather a consistent role with team X who will pay him.

He is an RFA so the Kings can match whatever he ultimately signs for.
Is there a team that would pony up the full MLE for four years with max raises? and if so would the Kings match that?

I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if a team desperate for shooting opted to go that way.

Agreed, unless someone like Mathurin/Sharpe drops, but even then I'd want better value than Noel/Kemba coming back.

Realistically, I think we will try to extend Fred, and maybe if we can't agree on a reasonable price, we may look to trade him then.

How about Fred Van Vleet to the Knicks???

The Knicks want to start winning again. Fred Van Vleet is a 2 way point guard with a winning pedigree.

The Raps want to turn over more playmaking reins to Scottie Barnes, rather than pay Fred.

Here’s the trade:

Fred Van Vleet and Khem Birch
for
11th pick, Cam Reddish, Kemba Walker, Nerlens Noel

This assumes that the Raptors have someone they really like at 11, otherwise it makes no sense to trade an all star PG.

New Knicks:
Fred VV / Fournier / Barrett / Randle / Robinson
Quickley / Rose / Toppin / Birch
Add: MLE signing

New Raps:
Scottie / Trent / OG / Siakam / Noel
Walker / Reddish / Achiuwa / Boucher
Add: 11, 33, MLE signing (Bamba?)

Thoughts?

I think a healthy DDV is underrated around the league. Bucks beat some injured teams on their way to the championship (like all champions do), but they had injuries too. DDV had been their sixth man before he went down.

BUT ... is he healthy? Perhaps because it's difficult to get good players to sign here, Masai & Co. sometimes offer big money to players who's health is in question - e.g. DeMarre Carroll and Wesley Matthews back in the day. Maybe he will here.

FVV to the Knicks? I really can't see Masai trading FVV unless we are getting the best player in the deal (which is basically impossible with the Knicks right now)

How about Barrett and 11 plus a future first for Fred.

Tired of these horrible Fred trades.

People, you have no clue how valuable an all star level point guard in his prime is—- this isn’t new. Point guard has always been the most important position :banghead:

Man, I'm more than open to exploring trades for Fred. But some of y'all are crazy with these ridiculous proposals. He's still one of the best 3&D guards in the game, and is coming off an all-star season.

PG is not the most important position right now and hasn't been for some time.

I don’t want to say you’re wrong, but you’re wrong.

Tell me how many teams have won a championship without an elite floor general? — not saying they average 20 and 10, but elite at running a team.

The answer is zero.

This package + the 11th pick is a nice swap for Fred that I think Masai would very much consider. Fair value all around.

I really think the guy they are trading this summer or next season has to be Gary. He’s not extension eligible and his defense just isn’t good enough imo with the way the team plays.
