classic center forward type, has a really good header game on corners

i think Taremi is a more dangerous player tho for Iran against the USA.

Was a prolific striker in Russia but has struggled mightily in Germany for Leverkusen, has been out injured fairly recently. Don't think he's quite 100%.

Would playing for a draw even make the US look good on the national stage? It would seem to just invite criticism from the rest of the world. Everyone gets that the US needs to win. 2 points vs 3 points in the group stage and getting knocked out isn't much of a difference, and 2 points trying to win vs. 3 trying to tie (and thus not advancing) is a far more respectable outcome.

You think it is attributed to culture and language?

About as terrible as the "it's called football" gripe I've been hearing for the past 30 years.

One thing that people don’t appreciate is that most players know multiple languages and I respect the hell out of it.

Why would US play for a draw? They absolutely have to win... so they have to take risks at some point if the game is tied.

Not at all. If we don't advance it will be considered a failure.

As per sports books, us is considered a favorite to win.

Having all the concef teams out would look very poorly going into 2026.

I don’t know whether to watch England play or the Iran vs USA game, the football fan in me is saying the USA vs Iran because of how vital it is. However the British in me wants to watch the England vs Wales game…

You got to see the England match if you are British.

I honestly couldn't say, but it's definitely possible. That's probably the main reason why most players struggle to adapt to new leagues and countries. Lots of high profile signings that fail for those reasons.

I think as fans sometimes we can lack a bit of empathy for athletes for various reasons, mostly because of their wealth. Emerson Royal for example has had a torrid time from Tottenham fans, but forget that he's basically a kid in his early 20s trying to adapt to a new country and a very demanding league and style of play.

England are pretty much through but I’ll keep an eye on that game, for drama purposes I’ll watch the Iran vs USA game because of what’s on the line.
