I would start Ayton at the 5, but would also have him play 4 in stretches, alongside Baynes at the 5.

With the league going small, Ayton would not only bully opposing smaller 4’s, but also (due to his incredible lateral quickness), not be burnt by smaller 4’s when playing defence.

On offence with Ayton at the 4, I would have him operate from the elbow extended. Much like Amare did later in his years here.

Monty loves to initiate the offence through handoffs from big men too, and Ayton has shown hes a very good passer.

Another advantage is Ayton can operate 1v1 from the elbow. His faceup game is really good and, if surrounded by shooters (Baynes at the 5 thank you), the D cant afford to double team. Ayton would feast.

Im not saying I would start Ayton at the 4, but I really think Ayton and Baynes can be our new Frye/Amare from 09/10.

Even though Trae is back, John Collins is a huge loss for Hawks. I also expect an easy win. Especially if we lose to Lakers before.

They are going to drug test the entire league. Realize everyone is on growth hormones / PEDs. Decide to not suspend anyone except Ayton and now Collins.

Yup. I've been doing my fair share of lifting in the past 20 years or so, and played bball at various stages, and spent a lot of time (through my best friend) among professional soccer players... I truly believe that a LOT of the NBA players are on something. Which doesn't take away anything from their accomplishments, it's just the way pro sports are nowdays. Too bad Ayton got caught.

I would rather have 48 great minutes at center than some weird cumbersome lineups with Ayton at the 4. Yeah he can hit a 12-15 footer but beyond that he doesn’t have the offensive skillset of a 4 at all. I want to force Ayton to learn how to anchor a defense every minute he’s on the floor because that’s where his real upside is.

True.

And we need to understand that it's more difficult to get open shots from three playing PF rather than playing C. Usually opposing PFs are smaller and play tighter defense, so you have to be able to put the ball on the floor or be a great consolidated shooter. Ayton can't play like that yet, and I think Baynes would lose some advantages playing PF too.

Why can’t Ayton play center on offense and pf on defense in certain matchups? Ayton did a great job on pfs like Giannis. Baynes has shown he can stretch the floor at the 4 on offense.

Didn't he more than hold his own against LBJ last year too?

I'm open to trying Ayton at the 4 (even though I think he's a 5) but all Ayton can do at the elbow is shoot or pass. He still can't put the ball on the floor.

Will Booker make the all-star team this year?
