this season is exclusively about getting fields used to nfl timing and getting the front office and coaching staff fired

Don’t let the last couple weeks fool you, this whole executive staff needs to go. We are going to be in a complete rebuild and have a locker room full of old guys and no young super stars. Build the offense over the defense for a change

Not trying to pick an open sore. Genuinely curious. Because I loved the pick.
He looks like a rookie you can see talent in Fields but he has a lot to learn. The Bears have to get this kid a O-Line Fields is going through growing pains like not taking sacks and get the ball out quicker.

I'm not sure Patrick Mahomes would look good with this Bears offense. They haven't been any good at all on offense since Jay Cutler left. You can't put a rookie QB into this dysfunctional mess and expect miracles. That's why personally, I would rather see Andy Dalton playing- at least he would bring some vet experience and an ability to read defenses. That would help show where the real weaknesses in the offense lie. With Fields out there, it's just one more wildly inconsistent piece thrown into the mix.

What makes you say Fields looked good overall? IMO he was completely underwhelming, again. He failed to show good instincts in the pocket, failed to manipulate the pocket, and generally failed to see his receivers outside of his first read. He had two very good drives but led an anemic offense for the rest of the game. Failed to break 200 yards in passing once again (Bears are dead last by a mile in passing yards per game). And was only able to muster 14 points.
Yes, Fields is a rookie. But there have been countless rookies who have looked better in their debut season than FIelds has looked thus far.

This anemic offense managed 14 points against a team that’s missing most of it secondary and one of their pass rushers. The team is trash, and Matt nagy has done nothing to show that he is the offensive guru he was touted to be

Yeah if this continues for the rest of the year, he's toast. Would not be surprised to see him canned mid season in fact.

passing production is not all about the QB. he had some nice throws downfield, had some nice runs, and aside from the near-INT there were no unforced errors that i can recall (the INT was fluky). his main flaw so far as i can tell is that he is still adjusting to the speed of individual nfl pass rushers. there are times that he escapes the pocket and thinks he is in the clear but gets tracked down

The bears have never fired a coach mid season. Expect to see the Nagy **** show for the rest of the year. And more **** shows to continue if Ted Phillips/George Mccaskey are running the show. Even if pace and Nagy go, they are giving hope to the fans the next thing served will be different. But it was always ****, and the fans were dumb enough to hope that it wasn’t. Cleaning house is the only way.

The board of directors is totally inbred:
Virginia McCaskey Secretary
George H. McCaskey Chairman
Ted Phillips President and CEO
Brian J. McCaskey Member
Ed McCaskey Jr. Member
Patrick McCaskey Member
Andrew McKenna Member
Pat Ryan Member
This team needs to be sold, not sure cleaning house is enough.

Passing is not all about the QB, but it is mostly about the QB.
Regarding unforced errors, he had two horrible sacks that could have been avoided. In terms of mistakes, he missed multiple receivers, including a wide open Robinson for a touchdown.
The Bears have one of the worst offenses, if not the worst offense, in the league. One of the biggest culprits of this is the QB. I mean, if this type of production can lead someone to think that our rookie QB is looking good out there, then you're basically saying that there's no realistic situation in which you would have a differing opinion.
Strictly judging from the on-field performance, there is little reason to be overtly optimistic about Fields. That does not mean that Fields is destined to be a bust. He certainly has room to grow and will do so with experience (the extent of his growth will be the question). But the on-field production as of today should not be the basis for optimism about Fields' future. Like I've said, countless QB's have looked significantly better coming out the gates than Fields has.

i'll agree with that. but 6.6 yards per attempt behind a bad offensive line with limited experience as a rookie...while playing in your first rivalry game with first place at stake...isn't actually bad at all. and when you include 6 runs for 43 yards...

he was under duress already when robinson came open. maybe he still should've been able to find him, but it wasn't a blatant error

was the cleveland game not realistic? it happened
atlanta has one of the worst offenses in the league. their QB is former MVP matt ryan

first of all, that's false. and few have had to deal with a horrible O-line early in their rookie year

FWIW, my opinion is people are anchored to how excited Fields was as a pick and not concerned at all about how looks now based on him developing further in the future.
My personal opinion is he generally looks pretty awful, and people are making up all kinds of random reasons to pretend that he doesn't look as awful as he does. I also loved the Fields pick and am not overly concerned about the level of present awfulness, but he definitely needs to adjust to the speed of the game.
FWIW, my analysis is also based only on the games not counting this GB game. I didn't get to watch it as I was traveling.
From what I have seen in terms of cons:
1: He's too slow to get rid of the ball. The problem is exacerbated by our poor line, but he hangs onto it too long.
2: He hasn't learned to use his legs well yet. Maybe exacerbated by play calling not moving him outside the pocket enough, but he hasn't used his speed / escapability as much of a strength yet, and I expect it to be one in the future.
3: He doesn't progress through his reads quickly yet, maybe this is also somewhat related to the first thing, but you can occasionally see plays when they run them through the overhead view where a guy breaks open but he is on the wrong route or takes too long to see it.
4: Our designed runs have been a train wreck and are just getting him killed.
From what I've seen in terms of pros:
1: All the physical tools exist. He has great arm strength and has shown nice touch on long passes when he has attempted them.
2: We know he has the physical leg skills to have good maneuverability and potentially be dangerous in running situations but needs to do more of taking advantage when left open for a run not looking for designed runs.
I don't know if he'll put it together, but I hope he does. If I were to sum up his weaknesses, I'd say "speed of the game" is too fast for him now. He's too slow to recognize what's coming, generally thinks he has more time than he has. My guess is more game speed reps will over time speed his decision making and he will pick up the feel for a quicker game. That will be the difference, IMO, on whether he is good or not good.

Re: Bears talk 2.0; Fields era begins for real for real
Fields looked atrocious today, probably his worst game as a pro. Underestimated how fast the defensive line was, routinely cost him. Threw bombs to no one and should
Have gotten picked twice for it.
Really awful display.
Play calling continues to look clueless. The TE screen on the line is such a low IQ call. Then you run bootlegs to the short side of the field, just makes no sense. Low IQ.
This game was varsity vs JV.

Re: Bears talk 2.0; Fields era begins for real for real
Good things:
-Kmet has a sign of life
-Herbert is another legit RB
-Fields battled and made a game of it
-Pass rush got another 3 sacks
The Officials were absolutely dreadful:
-That was a terrible INT that should have been an offsides. It was 3rd and 7 and should have been 3rd and 2, we were up 7-0 at that point with good momentum, could have easily been 10 or 14-0
-That OPI on the Packers was terrible, that was a TD
-Justin took at timeout before that delay of game, it was 3rd & 8 at the 33 - went to 3rd and 13 and we picked up a sack, easily FG range
-There were multiple terrible spots throughout the game, just really really bad
The Bad
-The Bears offense on obvious passing downs - this is a 39 year old tackle and our 4th string guy at RT, when it's obvious they're going to pass, the defense can create pressure at a really high % and then Justin looks like a rookie. His feel in these situations isn't there yet
-Packers ran the ball down our throat. Dillon and Jones are good and we really struggled without Hicks
-Rodgers owns us
Without better tackle play, this offense is going to have to be a run first attack. When Monty and Williams come back, you're looking at a really high end three headed monster in the backfield but this team is not built to come from behind at all.
Rest of the season should be about winning but also developing the young offensive core:
Fields, Mooney, Kmet, Monty, Herbert, Borom and Jenkins. Add a top flight WR in the draft (Chris Olave) and this is something

Most Rookie QB’s looks awful in there first year Fields have some fixable problems. I don’t think a rookieMahomes would look good this team. I’m not an apologies for Fields but give him some time it’s not like the other rookie QB’s are firing up the league. The QB position is the hardest position to play in all of sports so patience is the key.
