Rice is an interesting prospect. He's a great scorer. This past season, his scoring average dropped as he was not expected to carry the team by himself. Great shooter. Assist-to-Turnover ratio not so great. Tyrese looks more like a 2 in a point guard's body than a true point guard. As an BC grad, I wish him well, but I don't think he fits with what the Wolves are looking for at the position.

I agree, but in the 2nd round (particularly the 2nd half of the 2nd round), if he's there, you have to take anyone that you think will be a contributor on the next level.

so far it looks like we are gonna have 6 picks in the draft lol ,i cant figure out where the roster spots are gonna come from

Pekovic also has to come over as well soon

that being said there still a few talented guys in the 2nd round we could send to europe
a few i like are
Taj Gibson - i dunno if hes needed though
Tyrese Rice - nice 2nd round pg but we have 4 picks in thedraft and theres better
Jodie Meeks - would be nice to send to europe for a while see how he turns out
Luke Nevill - 7'2 could be anything

im just wondering wether you guys think its worth taking a pg with our top 10 pick
when we could easily take one with miami or utah's ,i would love to take either Collison or Lawson both could be great pg's in the nba

if DeRozan has a great march madness and we got the 6th pick i would be looking at him for sure
if we got a top 5 Thabeet and Harden would be a lot better

C-Mullins/Ogilvy(could be a decent center)
PF-Jefferson/Love/Smith/Madsen
SF-Gomes/Miller/Cardinal
SG-Foye/Derozan/Brewer
PG-Lawson or Collison/Telfair/Brown

DeRozan is not worth the 6th pick. Most mocks have him falling to where he'd be available with the Miami pick, maybe even Utah pick.

There's a sizeable gap between Evans/Teague/Holiday/maybe Jennings and the next group of PGs (Lawson/Curry/Collison/Flynn/missing a couple I'm sure). My plan A would still be taking one of the first group of guards with the highest pick.

DeRozan was great during the PAC-10 tournament, I'd imagine his stock is rising. With his physical talent, I could see him going top 10 if he blows up in the tournament.

How much would you guys spend to move up from cira 6 to circa 3 to nab Harden? 6+18+22 too much?

Devilzsidewalk wrote:But thats why I like Evans so much for the Wolves, when games are down to 1 possession, Love and Jefferson are pretty much off limits as options, Foye will just shoot a 3, so we need a guy that can create off the dribble, get inside and have the size to make something happen, and Evans is really the only guy in the draft with that kind of potential. Maybe Harden could do that, but he's not quite the physical presence vertically despite being a thick strong guy. A guard with that kinda size and ball handling is pretty rare, so I can't help but salivate at the thought of it all.

I might add Evan Turner to that list as well. He's basically playing PG for Ohio State now, he's got great size for a guard, a good mid-range game, and does a nice job of working himself into open space. He's not as athletic as Evans, but I wouldn't be surprised if he worked himself into lottery discussion in this draft.

So it'll be exactly like most of this year?

OK.
This thread is long.
Real long.
I do not plan on reading through all of it.
So, if things stay static, who do you guys want at 6xth overall?

nbadraft.net also has Evans going 27th which is beyond preposterous. I understand I like him more than most, but 27th?

You're going to find a lot of answers to that question because after the first pick (top two if Rubio delares) it's a crap shoot. Here are the names I see bandied about for our pick if it stays at 6:

Thabeet, Jennings, Evans, Aminu, Mullens, Holiday, and Teague (there might be one or two I missed)

Personally, I'm in the Thabeet if he falls, otherwise Aminu/Evans (tie). All would be great fits for the Wolves in my mind.

We did a TWolves board mock draft about a month ago. Some names have probably moved up or down since then but it gives you an idea of how the board is/was thinking. This is the result before we pooped out:
1. Ricky Rubio
2. Blake Griffin
3. James Harden
4. Jrue Holiday
5. Hasheem Thabeet
6. Greg Monroe
7. Tyreke Evans
8. Al-Farouq Aminu
9. Brandon Jennings
10. Stephen Curry (3) Evan Turner (2) Jeff Teague (4) Jordan Hill (2)

I think most people are wanting (not necessarily in this order):
1. a big PG to put next to Foye
2. an athletic wing
3. a defensive C to play in rotation with Jefferson and Love

Holiday is the best part. :D But many people think he will not come out this year.

btw, How far has Teague fallen the last month? He is no longer the primary ball handler even.

He should definitely declare, even though he had a horrible season and 90% of UCLA fans think he sucks, he's still probably gonna get drafted in the top 20 and there's no guarantee things get any better next year at UCLA. He shouldn't want to go top 10 anyways, go to a veteran team picking a little later where he can follow the Rondo path and not have the responsibility of being looked at as a main guy and avoid having to disappoint two teams in two consecutive years.

I would wet my pants if the Wolves were able to get Evans with the Miami pick.

Concerns with Evans is that his projections are Crawford or Hughes. If he was Hughes I would be so excited, but with Crawford you think of a ball hog that is very inefficient. Evans is a ball hog at times.

I saw a good chunk of the Davidson/S. Carolina game last night. It was the first time I've seen Davidson since early in the year and I came away really impressed with Curry. To me he's the biggest question mark in the lottery. He's an incredible shooter, decent ball handler and has a great feel for the game. He's playing PG this year and to have value in the NBA he has to play PG. That means he has to create his own shot (not come off screens) and create for others. He can do that at the college level I'm just not sure he's a good enough athlete/ball handler to do that in the NBA, but after watching last night I think maybe he could be, just not sure. I also wonder if he'll be able to stay in front of PGs at the next level.

I've heard comparisons to Nash, who's also not a super quick athlete, but I saw quite a few games Nash played in college and he looked much more like an NBA PG than Curry does now. Nash always had an incredible handle and was just crafty with the ball, I don't know if Curry is as good with the ball.

What's everyone else's thoughts? You can never have a enough shooters surrounding Big Al?
