TJ, JJ, #6 seems like a huge overpay for Jrue Holiday. The same Holiday who stays getting injured and has never even sniffed a conference finals. Also wouldnt that still keep the suns from signing any other free agents. Maybe suns should instead use that same package to try and move up for Barrett or Ja themselves.

Jrue, Tyler and Booker would be pretty solid three some in the backcourt

Suns would probably just have the MLE left over to fill the 4 as the draft would not be an option

If we add Jrue I think stretching or dumping Tyler becomes more more realistic.

For some reason, even though I don't think Gambo knows anything, this seems like an odd thing for him and Nevel to just randomly make up. Especially as bad as Gambo wants a PG.

Why wouldn't the Suns want Russell? Is it because for 27.5m they can get both PG and PF if they clear cap space

Is it because they don't like the fit next to Booker

Just saying NOT AN OPTION makes zero sense. He is really just Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith now -
And he still likes Terry Rozier!

It doesn't matter who he likes, but it just seems odd he would say Russell is not an option. Not sure why he would.

Nevel "confirmed" the Gambo tweet. I think they are just trolling now. I would like to know why Russell isn't an option. I get it - if they have 27m of cap space they can probably get a solid PG, a solid PF and maybe even a 3 point shooter for the bench. But might be nice to know from them "why" and not just "NO!!!"

I think this may be what Coach Monty Williams was thinking when he made the comment that He really likes what Tyler brings to the team.....

Hmm.. he is atlanta based
I forget why I was following his stuff for awhile - maybe Machado and Harper as a Padres fan
he was wrong is all I know --- I think he got some Braves stuff right but he was all over the map with Machado and Harper

pipe dream - it would have to include Tyler Johnson and we all know - until he OPTS IN... granted, if he opts in, he can be traded
if he doesn't, Suns have cap space so if this deal has any credence, it will be a July 6 effective date

I don't think a Jrue trade would HAVE to include Tyler Johnson. He makes $26.1 million. I think TJ and JJ make over $17. I think we could absorb the difference, especially if our pick was going out.

TJ, JJ, Fredette, and Spalding are enough to make the trade work. Pels could waive Fredette and Spalding at no cost. We would still have our MLE ($9.5) and BA ($3.5) exceptions too. Enough to get some good vets.

It's entirety possible that Williams and Jones think Russell is a knucklehead and just don't trust paying him 30 mil a year.

I've stated before that I'd be fine signing him because this team needs talent. But I've always thought that Brooklyn being seemingly open to letting him walk this summer was a red flag.

Russell “not an option” is absurd and deserves elaboration. Why has Tobias Harris consistently been an “option” at PF for months now according to Gambo but D’Lo is not an option at PG? They’d cost about the same amount, are a similar skill level, but one is considerably younger with room to grow.

This roster needs another significant addition and if we can do it this summer we need to. I hope we aren’t trying to open cap space to sign multiple average vets like Collison and Thad Young and then hope Coby White is our answer at PG. While that would be a nice upgrade in the short term, we’d be just as helpless in the long run and it doesn’t change the ultimate upside of this team.

I am good with Russell not being an option. I just wish there would a bit more elaboration Like your point above or maybe they want to spread the wealth. It just comes across as the Suns don't want a pretty good player - so why don't they want him.

Who knows. Heck it could be the exact opposite and they really do want him and they leak this so the nets don't try to extort something from them in a S&T.

Its peak lying season

He can’t be. You cannot package a signed and traded player together with another player as part of an outgoing package, as far as I am aware.

Remember how 98.7 radio guys would always play that James Jones sound bit from last year about Jamal Crawford being here ??????

"Jamal Crawford.....ah aha ah" .... That made James look a little like a fool. He isn't give any info away ... especially not to that radio station that made him look bad!!!

IMO, James is sticking it to that station and nobody has any clue what is going to happen.

That’s what I thought. But I keep hearing conflicting info.

I did. For the following reasons:

No assets need to be given up to get him (unless a S&T is constructed)
He's younger and should have a longer prime.
He's best friends with Booker. (I know some here see this as a negative, but keeping Booker happy should be a priority.
Although both have had their injury concerns, Holiday has had more bouts with severe injuries.

Coming back here after a long time! Glad to see some of the OG's still posting and being active.

The Gambo thing about DLo makes no sense. I believe he has no clue what is happening.

Whatever Gambo says you take the opposite of that to be true. Isnt it obvious by now?
