That’s what most Bulls fans want to do. But White’s also not (IMO) a sufficiently good player to be the main building block of any great team. Good, not dominant, and not super consistent. Still young of course. But White, Caruso, Ayo, Pat Williams… it’s not overwhelmingly exciting. Nonetheless, it would seem much worse to try and win with the Bulls’ current roster plus a few tweaks, cause that won’t work. Fan’s worry that ownership will just try to stay middling cause they sell out their corporate boxes regardless.
Gotta suck for a year or two. Get a first for DeRozan while they still have him under contract. Sell off LaVine for less than expected.
Contenders have to be interested in Vucevic, right?
Fans are definitely down with trading DeRozan, and there's been a long, long Zach trade thread (one already locked at 100+ pages, second one at p.51). I could see DeRozan being traded but there seems to be no market for Zach right now. I think that many fans would be up for trading Vuc but management seems to regard him as one of the "core." His stats look pretty good but they're pretty empty in terms of impact.
The situation with the Bulls is mainly just a bad fit; Vuc could be an asset on a long/lanky team with great defense and offensive rebounding but that's not Chicago. I could see Vuc working alongside, say, Jonathan Isaac. I personally would find it hilarious and also satisfying to see the Bulls trade Vuc back to Orlando for Wendell Carter Jr., who (as I've written here) I've always liked. They won't do that with AKME still the GM, since he made the disastrous Orlando trade (including two 1st rounders!) in the first place. AKME showed additionally poor judgment by defending the trade this past offseason, and he re-signed Vuc for 3 years, so with the GM being dug in I really doubt that any Vuc trade happens.
