I'd like Hornets to have Ray Allen as a backup guard next season. If he was very good for a championship team this year, he should be definitely be good for playoffs contender next season. There's something else - I think it would be great for new Hornets start to have such a star player. It would draw some extra attention. As a player I believe he would fit in perfectly, being the best at where Cats are the worst - threes. He shot .406 in last playoffs. With Ben Gordon cap space cleared, there would be plenty of room to attract Allen :D

What about Wes Johnson? I'm sure the Derrick Williams fans still have faith in him.
Humble yourself.

Isn't he like 36 by now? He was nearly 25 as a rookie.

Ha, yeah. I mainly remember Johnson being one of, if not the last draft pick ever to be drafted in the top 5 and be 22 going on 23. He was old by todays standards when he was drafted that high.

Some have mentioned Perk and Lamb which is viable, but - god - would I hate to see Perk grimacing on the bench for two years - would rather see Gordon just leave or get waived. Maybe if we get 3 or 4 solid trade ideas, we can put it to a vote in a new thread.

In my estimation, the most likely candidates are teams that aren't tanking ("rebuilding") or want to move dead weight or both. Most of the playoff contenders don't seem to have much wiggle room. Wondering if there is a middling team that would move an ish contract for a future 1st? Like '16?

Trade checker here I come.

Ben Gordon would be a positive plus difference maker for any team that has a legitimate defense and need scoring, specifically 3-point shooting. If I was the Thunder, I would be all over him. Gordon could be to them what they want out of Derek Fisher, but to a far greater extent, where he'd be putting up 20-point games occasionally as defenses shift their attention to elite scorers, Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook. The issue with Oklahoma City being trade partners is that nobody truly knows how they feel about Jeremy Lamb's potential and/or how bad do they want to get out of Kendrick Perkins contract because of so many conflicting reports, but if there's anybody that might be able to get a favor for a favor out of Sam Presti, it would be his former protege, Rich Cho

Sorry but I had to point this out. Is this not us exactly?

Yes. That was the point I was trying to make. Hopefully it's in the cards. That deal would work well for both teams

The Lakers aren't really going anywhere, doesn't make sense to trade for an expiring vet and lose on the trade
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

The Lakers just extended Kobe Bryant a 2-year/$48.5 million deal. They may not be going anywhere, but they at least aspire to make the playoffs. They are not exactly the type of franchise that bank on getting lottery picks

Wow. I really wouldn't understand the thinking process in trading for Omer Asik when a blooming Bismack Biyombo is right there on the bench

Also throwing away so many 1 round picks on him.

Unless we were getting Parson back in the deal.

I hope that's just Cho doing his due dilligence. I have yet to see him make a negative trade in his tenure as the Bobcats GM

Houston wouldn't trade away their X-factor. They need Chandler Parsons to contend for a championship. They'll be beyond lucky to find a player of his talents in the middle of the 1st round again. They wouldn't risk that. I doubt that Parsons is involved

Upon further reading into Zach Lowe's piece, it doesn't look like Cho reached out to Houston. The Rockets sought out to the Bobcats about the Portland & Detroit picks for Omer Asik's services, and I'm guessing Cho gave them a chuckle before saying "no."
