Knicks needs a deal that brings back a SF. We can't go into next season with Lance Thomas as our SF. Tanking or no tanking.

Having to watch 82 games of Lance Thomas starting (like he would ever remain healthy for that long...) is the definition of cruel and unusual punishment.

If we make a trade with Boston(which I doubt) then I want either Jaylen Brown or one of those projected high 1st rd picks... if we can get both then it would be an absolute steal

This will only have a chance if Hayward stays home and or he signs with Boston and Melo would be willing to slide to the 4.

Either way I believe Boston's nearness to beating Cleveland and proximity to NY, would make this an attractive deal for everyone.

Boston has a number of free agents that can be signed and traded for, along with one their acquired first rounders.

Its win win and Cleveland's big lost. Melo is a career 24+ per in the playoffs and even 20ppg would be a tremendous upgrade for 2 years.

He wouldn't relinquish the Nets or Lakers' pick for George but they can certainly parley one of their own. Understand the Pacers and Celtics competitively hate eachother and therefore the Pacers naturally want a higher reward. They figuratively said FU to Ainge and his plans.

It's more complicated than that. They offered picks in the past. The only reason that they wouldn't offer much last week was because it would use up their cap room. They wanted to sign Hayward first (using cap space) and then trade for George. I don't think they realized that Indy would pull the trigger like that. Why wouldn't Indy wait? Getting George out when they did really doesn't make much sense. It seems like they were just never going to trade him to a team in the East.

If he does compete for 6th man of the year, the Knicks should look to extend him as he's a perfect sub for Billy. The dude has it all: blocks shots, rebounds in traffic, good free throw shooter and a nice little jumper.

It's more complicated than that. They offered picks in the past. The only reason that they wouldn't offer much last week was because it would use up their cap room. They wanted to sign Hayward first (using cap space) and then trade for George. I don't think they realized that Indy would pull the trigger like that. Why wouldn't Indy wait? I would be reluctant to trade a star player in the same conference as well. indy traded him when they should have, just didn't get enough, even as a possible rental.

Houston, Boston, Clv are the obvious choices, but there are likely a few dark horse teams out there who could use his offensive talent at the 4. Portland, OKC, Miami, Lakers ( ).

Just don't go dumping him for the sake of dumping him. He's already a capable loser, so worst case scenario he plays it out here and we bring in more elite talent via the draft.

Boston fans are talking like they don't want him at all and wouldn't even give an offer. I'm kind of skeptical too now that they have Brown, Crowder and Tatum.. Any one (or all) can be just as good or better than Melo (in over impact) within a year or 2. Within 3 years, it's almost a guarantee that all 3 will be better.
