Considering what took place today

A otto porter lauri protected 1st (top 5) would have gotten DLO here

A thad young , sato felicio and 2nd rd pick would have gotten Drummond here

Drummond would have just been the stop gap center until we trade for karl Anthony towns. Towns who just mentioned how hurt he was when lavine left the team yesterday. You would have had 2 of his buddies here and he would have put us on the top of his list of trade destinations. Instead now he will stay in minny and we are left waiting until the next all star caliber player is on the move

If your a franchise trying to turn it around getting dlo lavine and towns together should have been explored and pursued heavily. This front office has no vision and has hindered the progress of the team with that boylen extension where now you have your 2 best players clearly not liking him.

You can't really look at every trade and say "Well, then that team would've valued our pieces the same way."

We obviously don't have all the info, but from what went down today my thoughts are...

It seems like the Clippers wanted Morris more than Young.

I feel we certainly had enough to make a competitive offer for DLO

While Drummond went for scraps it's scraps we can't offer (legit, we don't have that much in expiring money), also I don't really want Drummond so I don't care.

I think Justise Winslow if healthy would be a great fit here, the if healthy does seem to be becoming a greater and greater question. I personally think Porter would better complement the Heat then the players they got, but not sure Riley agrees.

Nothing else really stands out to me about the day. I know there was a suggested/reported Denzel/Philly connection but it appears they got better players in Burks and GRIII, so what you gonna do.

The Thunder staying put surprised me. Denis Scroder was one of the few point guards I thought we might be able to get that could actually help our team.

It would have been nice to acquire 5 draft picks from trades like the Warriors or to acquire a max player to help Zach but this team needs a leadership change with management and coaching more than anything else.

There's no way they could have gotten Russell. If everybody was so hyped up to get Drummond you never seem to have an answer, what were they going to do? Drummond and Markkanen start, Carter backs up the 5 Young backs up the 4, Gafford sits, Kornet waves a towel. They'd still have Porter at the 3, Hutchison behind him no money to sign anybody to replace Dunn and Valentine if they let them go next year. Just a bunch of bellyaching because they didn't shuffle a few players around because that gets some people all sweaty.

How about the real world.

Some players are going to get bought out. As that starts is it worthwhile for the Bulls to buyout Harrison, Valentine, Dunn, Arcidiacono and grab somebody else?

I never held the expectation that after X number of years we'd be in good shape again.

Anyways, it's hard to imagine we can't get a good player for a package including some or all of these IMO disposable pieces:

Otto
Lauri
Thad
Coby
Sato
Our 2020 pick

Guys like Derozan, Chris Paul etc should be attainable rather easily IMO. Will they win us a title? Hell no. Will the guys we ship out? Hell no.

While you are correct, nobody wanted them to settle for safe, low upside picks either. Like Michael Porter Jr had his concerns for sure, but he was by far the highest upside player available at #7. And he wanted to be here badly. WCJ is solid, but low ceiling. His ceiling is maybe a poor man's Al Horford. nd even the real Al Horford in his prime, wasnt a top 2 player on a championship team type.

Then in this last draft Rui Hacimura was available. Instead they settle for low upside Coby White because they "need" a Point guard, ignoring the fact that Coby isn't even a point guard. Rui has the tools and the potential to be a poor man's Giannis in a few years. Coby's potential is, vinnie Johnson?

When you don't have superstars in place, you don't settle for low upside players when there are guys with star potential sitting there

I disagree. I think the Bulls have drafted fine generally. Their problem is that they haven't had high picks and they've been as uncreative and scared as humanly possible in trade scenarios.

Carter, for example, was a quality pick that I highly advocated. I think he's already on a path to be as good as Horford. Lauri was a fine pick too. Coby is a total unknown but I disagree that he was selected for need. It was a bad draft class IMO.

It's just that #7 picks usually aren't that good frankly. We could have made some moves to tank better and get higher picks but we wanted to try to audition role player prospects instead SMH.

I'm probably picking the wrong thread to defend Coby or # 7 picks in general but I'm really starting to think there's something going on there with Coby that's going to be good. It could be last nights tequila talking but... just sayin.

I really don't have a problem with the Bulls draft picks. Considering where they are slotted.

What I want to see as a fan of the franchise is for us to have ownership that decides to play the game to win games. please! Lakers, Clippers ,Warriors Mavericks, celtics, raptors, heat, jazz, nuggets, rockets, and others.... all are playing to win games, even knowing only 1 wins a championship

No thanks on D'Angelo Russell. He's not the kind of player you want to build around. There's a reason he's been traded already 3 times in 5 years. This is exactly the kind of thinking I don't want the FO to be doing- jumping at the chance to get a big name, a flashy scorer, just because he's available. We can live with Zach LaVine. We don't need more players like that.

ATL getting Capela I thought was a very good deal for them, considering what they gave up to get him.

If the bulls wanted to really make the playoffs they would have made moves. Drummond would of been a bull tonight and it wouldn’t matter if he resigns next season if your giving up nothing significant. A half season rental would have been good enough They would of had both Carter and Drummond.

Paxson though pretty much told us that he’s throwing away another season to the garbage and going for yet another pick. Now was it his decision or did they tell him not to do anything because of a GM change? Who knows but not making any deal today was ridiculous, fans are already disgusted with this team. At least try to make it more exciting for the fans, do something for crying out loud!

With Russell I agree, what Minnesota gave the bulls wouldn’t match but for Drummond why the hell not? He would of easily made the bulls a playoff team without a doubt and would of been more exciting to watch.

Damn, I really like the moves Heat, Clips, Hawks and Grizzlies did.
Clips adding another great plaayer in Marcus Morris, who will be starting PF and C in smaller ball lineup. They are just a defensive and offensive beast from top to bottom.
Beverley, George, Leonard, Morris, Zubac
Williams, Shamet, McGruder, Harrell, Patterson, Green and they will probably be active in buyout markets too.

Heat :
Nunn, Butler, Robinson, Crowder, Adebayo
Dragic, Herro, Iguodala, Jones, Olynyk, Leonard
Deep, good team as Clips on D and O

Now we aren’t even giving the no excuses part of the injury phrase. Now it is an excuse. Again

Pax: We are still trying to get to phase of being a relevant legitimate team. We had hopes this year. We didn't start out like we thought we should, then injuries hit and here we are. #Bulls

Aaaand, never mind. Lol. I’m done, might be time to check out from the Bulls completely. I’m a Memphis grizz, fan from here on out. Absolutely no point to watching the Bulls. Nothing makes a lick of sense. It’s almost like they’re seeing how badly they can damage the greatest sports franchise ever. Did someone lose a bet way back? Why on earth would you keep Boylen as your head coach? Why? Someone explain it to me.

Bulls players: “we despise this creep. We can’t stand playing for him, and, in turn, we dislike the franchise in general now & wish to be traded.”

Every player in the league: “we would never come to play for Chicago while jim boylan is the coach”

The Bulls: “this is our man”

Go grizzlies!!
