That site has us at 241 so far today. The 519 number is the total number of deaths overall so far in NY from COVID.

My previous post was wrong. It was 268 deaths yesterday in the US. Things aren't looking good if we are already at 241 today.
The total number of deaths to date was up around 1000 yesterday, right? So our total is up to 1500 now, that would be around 500 deaths today?

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Click on the yesterday tab and they had US at 1295 deaths at GMT+0 (so it resets at 8pm eastern, or 7pm central for me)

Now at 1536, with likely more reports over the next 4 and a half hours

That's really the only way you can start to implement a containment plan that won't result in a catastrophic surge of cases once social distancing measures are relaxed, at least until the virus has peaked naturally. Tests for the presence of antibodies to figure out whether people were already infected and fought off the infection also are needed. Luckily, those are coming.

Surely these numbers have to push President Trump to understand the urgency of what’s needed? Nope. In fact, Trump thinks Cuomo’s numbers are being exaggerated.

“I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators,” Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday. “You know, you go into major hospitals, sometimes, they’ll have two ventilators. And now all of a sudden they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?’”

I can't wait till all this ends up. I'm gonna leave my wife and kid and I'll drink for 5 days straight. I won't be coming home for a week, minimum.

Is pretty strange to say that and then not even 24 hours later use a defense act on GM to produce them.

In actuality we probably got twice that amount or more. Its gonna keep looking like crazy spikes the more testing thats done.

How many people do you think caught the virus and have recovered that are not a (confirmed case) ? Or anyone else that wants to guess an estimate at this? My estimate would be 200,000.

Concern over the economy is not about propping up the S&P 500. It's about the fact that millions of Americans lost their jobs, lost their incomes, and lost their health insurance last week. This government stimulus is not going to replace these things.

In Utah, we had our second fatality from Covid today (after 8 or 9 days of zero fatalities). We now have 480 positive diagnoses from a base of over 9,200 tests administered. The 2 deaths raise the state's current fatality rate to 0.42%. Both of these people had pre-existing conditions.

If we assume that there exist at least another 400 or 500 people out there with the infection, but with no symptoms, then that would put the fatality rate down in the 0.2% range.

I'm assuming the State of Utah will continue to maintain its personal-distancing policy for the better part of another week as we gather more data. However, one of the malls in the area is now planning to reopen this weekend, with individual stores being left to set their own policies for conducting business.

It's difficult to shut down the economy for a state of 3 million people without data indicating there's a more serious health risk.
