Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - Schedule Released 8/15
Barkley isn’t wrong. Giannis is an incredible player, but he is prone to tunnel vision and he has his basketball warts. He’s played on teams with absolutely great shooters, but he has zero interest in setting a screen. He’s over reliant on the spin move when he drives and teams really hammer him for it, especially in the playoffs when the entire team game plans for it. Shooting woes are obvious, but at this point I don’t see it improving especially from the FT line.
Giannis is an all time player, but he truly is a unicorn. His size and athleticism are off the charts and he has developed the basketball skill of finishing at the rim from all sorts of absurd angles. He’s an insane off ball defender.

The 1 on 5 part is whatever but there is a lot of truth in Chuck saying Giannis needs to get better at being a basketball player.

Chuck's had every imaginable take on Giannis at one point or another. This is just the thing analysts do where they retrofit player takes to recent team outcomes.

I always wonder what would have happened to the "Giannis 1-on-5/top-of-key-bowling bowl stuff doesn't work" takes if literally anyone on the team could've made an open shot in either OT period of Game 3 vs. Toronto, and we go on to win the title in 2019 (we weren't losing to a crippled Warriors squad in the Finals). Just a fun exercise in how narratives develop and stick even if the reality remains that Giannis bully-ball was the driving force of our most dominant squads of the Bud era.

Barkley coming back to the Deer District during our run would be that much better after this.

Giannis is entering his 12th year. At this point he is who he is as a player. Which is 2X MVP, DPOY, Finals MVP, 6X all-NBA, scored 50 to win the title. Chuck and the other haters/click baiters can pound sand.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

That Chuck take is just him noticing that the Bucks have had some struggles in recent seasons, not knowing what the actual reasons are for it because he doesn’t closely follow the Bucks, and thus lazily jumping to criticisms of the superstar on the team.
Giannis gave us 30 a night on 65% TS and would’ve eviscerate Indy if he was healthy lol. I’m pretty confident him not being better at basketball isn’t one of our problems, the dude just needs to be healthy in the playoffs.

Giannis is who he is. We have won because of his play style, and have lost with it being a factor (but never the main one). Giannis shot selection has actually improved a lot and I think that helped him a lot last year and will pay off in the playoffs too. I’m more concerned about Dame and Giannis not being and our top guys not being healthy come playoff time.

Giannis has three rings if the highlighted happens, and Khris doesn't get hurt to miss the entire Boston series two years ago

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - Schedule Released 8/15
The criticism against Giannis is his lack of health in the playoffs two years running. Thats really where it ends.
Dude had a monster year last year and made it look easy. Guy has averaged 6 assists per game for 6 years straight and had a career high 6.5 last season. Anyone who watches him knows he is a great playmaker who loves getting teammates involved. Sure, everyone would love if he added Jokic type finesse and craftiness to his game. Its probably not happening and thats fine. He is still an amazing two way player and firmly the best player in the East.
If the Bucks have a top seed and great record, the narrative will quickly shift to accommodate.
Its a brain dead process. Hes still a goliath and im sure hes excited to show that

It's sort of funny in that Giannis is kind of like what would happen if you split the difference between Barkley and Shaq.

Same as every analyst. Learning and growing and changing your mind isn't a federal crime. Only scandal here is no one's said it out loud before. Obviously rival teams chose to exploit that insight analysis rather than lose the advantage by stating the obvious. In what way does doing another take on a subject discredit what Barclay's saying here? What lotsa ppl been saying for some time. See Jeff Teague's point guard laugh rxn. Those who disagree can just put 4 Bucks on the floor from here on out and roll with it.

Chuck's earned a lot of grace w/ us. He's believed in the Bucks more than they deserved & likely got to his breaking point. I think it's just bad to sell the stock when it's low. You ought to hold. They're a good buy. If things break better, they have as good of a chance as anybody.
And there is some truth to what he's saying about Giannis. W/ Dame on the team especially, we could play 4 out w/ Giannis in the post, and have him operate there. Hit turnarounds & elbows. He still doesn't have a reliable shot over the d. He was 31% from 8-16 & 37% 16-24. It's not too much to ask for him to get to a % somewhere besides the rim where you need to guard him.

It's not really the 3-pt percentage rate that's at issue here. Making those doesn't change anything. Reality is the 'Giannis-1-on-5-bowling-ball' so-called strategy DIDN'T work what, 3 4 5 years running when every realGMer thought titles didn't have to be earned and G was a free ride to glory.*
No doubt the openly bad strategy would go unmentioned/unheard in your scenario and would rear up unexpectedly to wreck the team sooner than later due to the fact that ignoring root causes and bad bb never works.

We made a conference finals and won a title in Bud's first 3 seasons, and Giannis or Khris has been injured every year since, so what you're saying here comes off as hysteria even if you accept without questioning that Giannis has been playing the 'Giannis-1-on-5-bowling-ball' so-called strategy.
