Budenholzer said he’ll bring the emphasis for strong defense and ball movement to Atlanta. And he said the Spurs’ system is catching on with other teams.

“I think the league and the NBA, whether it’s fundamentals or the style of playing, is moving toward the style that we’re playing. I look forward to bringing to Atlanta the ball movement and people movement and people sharing and participating and a little bit less of the one on one,” he said.

Sounds like the end of the Josh Smith era in Atlanta. LOL

That's about as clear as they could say that haha. It will be VERY interesting to see where he ends up. Especially if he's still convinced he deserves a max deal. If, somehow, Smith stays in Atlanta, then it could actually be exactly what he needed to change his approach to the game. My guess is Smith lands in Houston after they fail to sign Dwight. Or perhaps Dallas.

Houston looking to trade TRob for whatever just to clear his salary so they can go after Howard. Has to be a blow for TRob after a rough rookie year.

Robinson is a good cautionary tale for Dipo. An athletic freak who's a bit undersized for his position and didn't do anything in college until his junior season.

Robinson falling short of expectations was predictable for a completely different reason. He's got no shooting touch. Rule to remember - college bigs who are primarily power players and make just 50% of their 2 pointers and turn the ball over a lot are problematic in today's NBA.

It's in Spanish, but apparently they reporting that "Plan A" for Boston in FA is Paul Milsap.

http://www.basket4us.com/blog/2013/05/3 ... 89038.html

Seems weird since they already have KG and Bass under contract...unless they aren't expecting KG to be back? I don't think they can keep playing him at C, especially with an undersized PF like Milsap next to him IMO.

If Houston signs Dwight and Boston signs Milsap...maybe KG for Asik+filler? Then send Pierce+Melo to LAC (along with Doc Rivers) for Butler+Bledsoe?

If Howard bolts, do the Lakers throw in the towel, amnesty Bryant and try to trade off Gasol and Nash (and/or anything else they can) to one-piece-away contenders for future picks, prospects, or just salary relief? Or do they amnesty MWP and let Bryant play out his last year and retire a Laker?

Looks like Joerger is prime to replace Hollins in Memphis.

I feel sorry for all these fans of teams that keep replacing their coaches.

Too bad. I was kinda hoping the Wiz'd have a shot to trade for Horford. I guess that also eliminates any chance Atl will go after Howard - since he and Smith are close friends - and Smith staying there could have been a lure.

Joerger will be great and it will keep continuity for their defense.

Hollins and Hollinger had an altercation during the playoffs. It just won't work. Hollinger is obsessed with efficiency while Hollins is old school and will want to play veterans or guys with the experience he is looking for above all else.

I never thought there was any realistic chance of Howard going to Atlanta anyhow. The way I see it, Howard has two options: stay in LA for the fame, or go to Houston for the best long-term window of success. Everything else is just noise.

Jason Kidd and Grant Hill have each announced their retirement. Both guys had a "twilight" much longer than I expected.

I wonder if Juwan Howard will go ahead and retire too.

He's going to wait and see if he gets his 2nd championship before deciding.

Smart players who are willing to stay in shape and adapt to changing roles. Okafor might fit that description and stick around another 10 years.

Not to mention that Houston could potentially acquire both Howard and Smith if they waive everyone they can and do one of the deals as a sign-and-trade. Asik+TRob for Smoove?

Howard/Smith
Smith/Donatas/Jones
Parsons/White
Harden/Anderson
Lin/Beverly

Not much in reserve on the wings, but maybe they could bring back guys like Garcia and Delfino on the cheap.

Interesting to see them come into the league together, share the rookie of the year and then retire within days of each other. It looks like Kidd should be a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame. It will be interesting to see about Grant Hill.

Kidd one of the greatest to ever do it. Way to reinvent his game as he got older to eventually be a pure facilitator.

Yep, and don't forget that he turned himself into a pretty good spot-up outside shooter. And he seemed intent on playing for another year or two until he completely disappeared in the playoffs this year. Wonder what happened.

Let's bring Hollins to DC!!!

The Hawks may have violated the NBA’s anti-tampering policy by mentioning Dwight Howard and Chris Paul by name in a recent letter sent to prospective ticket buyers.

<snip>

The letter, obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, was sent via e-mail from one member of the ticket sales department. It was on team letterhead and headlined “Hot New Player news: Chris Paul and Dwight Howard.” It began with the statement: “The buzz around our offseason is more than heating up. With massive cap space, 4 draft picks, and free agency rapidly approaching, we sit in the best position in the NBA. Player interest is skyrocketing as the possibilities of landing Chris Paul & Dwight Howard become more and more of a reality.”

The letter included a link to a story on ESPN’s Website reporting that Paul was unhappy with the notion that he played a role in the dismissal of head coach Vinny Del Negro last month.

“This is your opportunity to get on board before its (sic) too late. Once we solidify our signings there will be no seats left,” the letter added.

Even worse since the article mentions that the Hawks have already been fined for this in recent years.
