Would anyone have added Matisse for Mills ?
Or has Mills proved too valuable with his efforts for the nets so far?

Late to the party, but absolutely thought that the Nets would only trade Harden for a tremendous haul. Simmons, two FRPS, Curry and Drummond are not that at all. Curry is a good regular season player on a great contract, but he doesn't shoot enough for a floor spacer and he's not good enough as a creator to offset his terrible defense.
Keeping both Thybulle and Maxey on this roster is massive. Thybulle obviously for his perimeter defense. Maxey for the gradual shift of primary ball handling in the upcoming years.
Holding out of for 9 months paid off, took some balls from Morey. Now I'm really curious how they'll fill out the roster and how they make things work on offense and defense.

Part of winning is also to prevent the opponent from scoring. Outside of Thybulle (and maybe Maxey?) we have no perimeter defenders at all. So no, with the addition of Harden, Thybulle is far more valuable to us than Harden.

I think the Nets are significant weakened no matter what tho. Peak Nets with their big 3 last year looked unbeatable. I find it hard to believe they can reach those same levels with Ben. And I think their floor just got way worse because, as we know painfully well, Ben will just disappear in games or become a walking liability.
Simmons can disappear and it won't matter. nets have what the sixers didn't...shooting and guys who can get their own. Embiid had to this and he couldn't for various reasons.
If KD and Kyrie are capable of carrying the Ben Simmons we saw against Atlanta last year to a title? Then it doesn’t matter that we made the trade at all because they would win it with Harden anyway.
Yeah that Simmons was crap. But you know he has played at a decent level in the play offs. Why do people always look at the worst performance as if it's the usual output?

Chris Haynes has an interesting POV. He said Sixers had to acquire Harden by the deadline because it will be too risky for them to acquire him by the offseason because there’s some chatter of tampering issues that may block Harden to Philly.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I'm sure this has been discussed I just am too lazy to find it - does anyone know if Harden will be playing tonight ? We've got OKC at home tonight at 7pm ... will we have Harden tonight?

No, we need defense more than Mills' scoring (think we can find a valuable replacement in buy-out).
Mattise will be very valuable next to Harden
Interested in seeing how Tobias is going to adapt, he will need to transform in a spot up shooter (with less touches off course) and that's not his game at all tbh.

Fair call ✓
I'm only familiar with Tobias since he joined the Sixers. No idea what his game has been or could be.
One thing I have noticed, apart from wasting dribbles with his back to the basket, then forcing it in close and getting stuffed...once on the move he has shown glimpses of being ok in faster paced transition and slashing to the rim. A bit like Ben, quick when he has a path. When he has intent on scoring great, if not give it up and stop clogging the paint.
Ok, another thing I've noticed, he's not aggressive enough. Soft.

You’re going to be extremely disappointed if you expect Tobias to make a difference

Sorry for the thread drift, but for the salary;
Can it happen? The 'Cameroon Connection' ~$33mil +
a Danny Green upgrade @ ~$13mil

Maybe a few months ago but he's back to playing really well now.

Sure, he will markedly improve their defense but I think he's going to be a big drag on their offense.
I think if Harris was healthy and fully weaponized this Nets team swapping Simmons for Harden would be a real problem for the league's best. Without him I don't see it.
I also think Kyrie is the type of player who could negate all of Simmons' problems on the offensive end with his individual brilliance. But he's Kyrie, so...
You don't rate the shooting.of KD, Irving, Mills, Curry? Add Harris and they are the perfect place for a mon shooter like Simmons.
The issue there is going to be defense especially when Simmons can’t play at the end of games.

Simmons fans talking about free throw contests like he wasn't marching to the line (by choice of the other team) in every fourth quarter of every big game embarrassing himself and this organization attempting to perform one of the simplest acts of the sport.
Anyways how long until buyout guys start getting deals? I'd feel a lot better if we acquired Lopez or some solid backup big.

I am assuming Harden is not going to play tonight right?
