Brainiac- he covered him for certain trips down the court, but TD was not Shaq's primary defensive assignment! I'm not wrong. Shaq covered Tony Parker on switches sometimes too. Does that mean that "head to head, Parker dominated Shaq in the playoffs"???
Let me spell it out without any confusion so you can understand me. SHAQ AND TIM DUNCAN DID NOT GO HEAD TO HEAD FOR AN ENTIRE SERIES AS EACH OTHERS' PRIMARY DEFENSIVE ASSIGNMENT BECAUSE THEY PLAYED DIFFERENT POSITIONS, SO IT IS INCORRECT TO SAY THAT DUNCAN DOMINATED SHAQ HEAD TO HEAD. IT IS NOT CORRECT TO SAY THAT SHAQ DOMINATED DUNCAN HEAD TO HEAD. DID THAT GET THRU YOUR THICK HEAD???
But if I use your logic, let's play the game. You say that Shaq bullied aging creampuffs and that Duncan outproduced Shaq. Then how come Shaq, since you seem to think that there are only 2 players on the court, got thru TD in 4 out of 5 years to get to the finals, including 3 in a row?? And in 1 series, he swept Tim Duncan! So tell me why, if Duncan was so much better and Shaq could only bully aging creampuffs, why did Shaq bully Duncan 4 out of 6 times that they faced each other? Duncan wasn't aging thru 2004, was he??
Submit your answer, and I'll tear it apart. Because much like in a game of chess, I already know what you're going to say and how I'm going to put you in checkmate.

Duncan was great that game and was ridiculously hot in that 4th quarter (everything he put up was going in) Shaq only guarded him on couple of possessions and if you actually watch them you'll see Shaq defended him VERY WELL but he just made some amazing shots.
He shined vs the Lakers just like he Shined vs all teams in his Prime because he is a GOAT level player.. not because it was vs the Lakers.. what kind of (Please Use More Appropriate Word) logic is that.
Well its more like your normal logic.
03 Shaq was injured and past his Peak so yea Duncan who at the time was at his absolute peak was certainly on the same level or on the same Tier.. how is that a bad thing?
In that G6 you refer to he did have an epic game at home and did slightly outplay Shaq however its his team that won that series for him not his play vs Shaq because Shaq over the entirety of the series actually outproduced Duncan much like he did in 00-02 and in 04. Like I've told you before its the best team that wins not the team with the best player and SA was the better team that year .
So because Peak Duncan won one series against him in the 00's when he was injured and Shaq still outproduced him that means Duncan is the better player? Very logical
Then in 04 Shaq significantly outplayed and outproduced Prime Duncan (cream puff?) and LA won again.

The point Jaypo seems to miss wasn't that he was Shaq's assignment....it's that he guarded TD at times whereas Jaypo claims he NEVER did. More than once in that game Shaq was isolated on TD on defence and gave up on plays and stopped competing. Btw....I'm still waiting for this proof of Shaq dominating TD/Spurs "90 % of the time".

Yes Shaq did guard TD in that game for a couple of possessions in the 4th quarter and even though personally I feel Oneal defended him very well and was trying his best he could not stop Duncan.
I doubt anyone could have considering he is a GOAT bigmen at the peak of his ability and was very hot that game/quarter.
He was also guarding Duncan 1on1 I don't think any players could reliably stop a Prime Duncan/Shaq/ or Hakeem especially if they are hot 1on1 so that shouldn't be a knock on Shaq or his defensive ability.
its not like the spurs were stopping Shaq that game either who himself dropped 30+points with 10+ boards and 3 assists/blocks.

Sigh again. You seem to enjoy posting things I've never said. If you find a quote of me saying this bolded part I will do you a favour and leave RealGM....I'm sure the blood vessels inside you would appreciate that.
You stated Shaq DID NOT guard TD, and I showed you instances where he did.
He only got past the Spurs when Kobe was going off in '01 and '02 and '04 as well. TD didn't need to defer to anyone offensively to oust the Lakers. So sorry if I find what TD did vs. LA to be more impressive than what Shaq did to the Spurs those years.

Thats fine if you find it "more impressive" we are all entitled to our own opinions and I do find Duncans play in 03 to be very impressive myself.
I don't really understand how its more impressive since in 01,02, and especially in 04 Shaq was outplaying and outproducing Duncan in those series.
If Duncan had been outplaying Shaq in those series I might actually agree with you but he didn't.

TD outproduced Shaq in '02 and it wasn't even close. You didn't even add '99 as well when he was only in his 2nd year. So sorry if I don't see this 90%

I'll have to check the numbers but I didn't think TD outproduced him that year, even so Shaq will still have outproduced/played him 3/4 times they met.
so 75%?
I don't count 99 because the Spurs supporting cast was so much better then LA's that year.

Fusheng- please do not leave Realgm. Reading your posts gives me so much unintentional comedy, that I don't think I could stand it if you left. You make me laugh daily.
What jaypo said, and I'm not sure if you are just to young to read between the lines or what, is in response to your incorrect statements about Duncan "outplaying Shaq head to head" so many times, that the 2 players played entirely different positions. Sure, they covered each other in isolated incidents, but it's not the same as Akeem destroying Drob in a series, because they were 2 centers going at each other for the majority of the time. In all the Spurs vs. Lakers serieses from 99 on, Shaq and TD were center and power forward respectively. Do you routinely go around saying that Kareem was a better player than Bird because head to head, he destroyed him??? Or that Isiah doiminated MJ because head to head early on, he destroyed him?? It makes no sense! What the accurate statement would be is that Duncan dominated the Lakers PF's throughout the serieses. And that Shaq still put up great numbers considering he was playing against the twin towers and great defenses. Nobody goes around saying that Shaq destroyed Duncan because he got thru "him" 4 out of 6 times including a sweep, do they?
You do the same thing over and over again. You pick one statement and stay stuck in the letter of it and not the context. And it's because you have no leg to stand on!
Also, why haven't you answered me about the "aging creampuffs" statement regarding TD???
And another thing, since you're so stuck on the literal meaning of everything I say, I challenge you to find where I said Shaq NEVER guarded Duncan! Do you want to know why I know I didn't say it? Because I know he did at times. I can remember Duncan hitting the shot over Shaq, who played perfect defense on him, that was supposed to put the game away until the next trip downcourt where Fisher hit the .4 miracle. So I issue the challenge to you- if you find where I said that Shaq NEVER covered TD for a single possession, I'll leave Realgm. Otherwise, Shaq was the MDE!!!
