yall will be the same dumb fks saying Rose is finished when he doesnt storm out of the gates dropping 35ppg on 58% shooting while dunking all over the court.

NY fans can be the smartest fans in the world, but they can also be the absolute most moronic, knee-jerk reactive fans as well.

why can't it be both way? why can't people also be waiting for something GREAT that will never appear? why does shumpert HAVE to be great in your book?

I didnt say Shump had to be great, smart guy. Youre the one tearing the kid down 5 games into a return from an ACL tear. Even still, I wouldnt begrudge someone waiting for something great to happen given that he is only 22 years old and had a promising start derailed by the most serious injury in all of sports. I could see if he was a 4 year vet and wasnt showing signs of improvement/never tore his ACL, but thats not the case is it?

Youre not being fair to Shump. He will need more than 15-20 games to regain that lateral quickness. Its not just the physical aspect of the injury thats severe, its the mental one as well. You think he doesnt subconciously fear he will fk up his knee again on any given play? It takes time, man.

No

Shumpert's talent/ability is somewhere between being 5 games back from an ACL tear, getting back into game rhythm & a sophomore slump.

I hate to toot my own horn, but I was expecting this thread since last year. Pathetic. It's good to know Aggo is the new Knick4Ever.

It's definitely a reactionary thread.

you guys are being a little harsh to the o/p. the knicks have been slumping lately and the lead on the division has been closing quickly from a month ago. i think its important that we get home court advantage so we must send out our best troops every night. CURRENTLY, who's our top 8 to 9 guys? I'm asking this because in must win games, like the playoffs, teams traditionally use an 8 or 9 man rotation. So lets list who currently is our top 8 to 9

1) Melo
2) Chandler
3) Felton
4) Amar'e
5) JR
6) Kidd
7) Pick your favorite backup big guy (Sheed, Camby or Thomas)
8) Prigioni
9) Iman
10) Novak
11) Your second favorite backup big guy
12) Brewer
13) Copeland
14) White
15) Your third favorite backup big guy

With so few games seperating all the top teams in the East, why are we starting guys who are not even close to our best performers? I'm sick of seeing White start and Copeland get some decent minutes when they are not our best players. When injuries occur, that's a different situation. Someone needs to step up. However, when White is directly taking JR or prigioni off the floor for minutes that they are more than capable of playing, I have a problem.

As for Iman, I love the kid. He has the perfect amount of swag. However, he's not ready. We're not the 2008 Knick's anymore. We need to keep winning games at a high rate. We can't have dead minutes. I think he will be fine long term. However, he certainly hasn't put in enough time to get an automatic starting gig off of an ACL tear. Amar'e didn't even get that deal and the guy is a 6 time all-star. Give Shump 10-15 min off the bench and have him work a lot in shootarounds, practices, before games and after games to regain form. Give the minutes to our best contributors RIGHT NOW. Iman will have his chance later on.

Haha. Hey, hey, you know me, I can't get enough gavran.

Yes believe it or not I have mellowed out over the years. If I can go back and apologize for old posts I would. I go back and read some stuff and I said and I shake my head at the total disrespect I showed to people. I was young, I should have known better. I know people may have a few issues with me but that's because I criticize Woodson and the defense. I don't insult anyone anymore. I try to avoid confrontation. I stick to basketball. Nothing personal, nothing douchey. And I feel way better about it.

I don't remember if I ever insulted you in the past but I apologize if I did. If I am able to live out this second chance of posting then I can tell everyone here that I will make it a totally different and worthwhile one.

First, part of the reason why I posted this is because I knew how much love shump gets. But I also know, from having watched 95% of every knick game the last 2+ years that shump has not provided game breaking defense that he used to. I admit that this thread is Premature, but you sometimes want to get that narrative out early because this is a warning sign to me, these first 5 games.

Tonight shump got clowned by redick. Call it whatever you want, and when shump was getting threes dumped onto his head, he reverted back to grizzlies-shump and chucked up a few shots out of rythym.

I am not sure why this thread was made.

The knicks are 4-2 since shumpert has returned and could have possibly been 5-1 if melo hits that last shot against brooklyn.

He has had 4 decent shooting games (wins) and 2 bad shooting games (losses).

His defense is not at the level it was last year but it is OK. There were several hustle plays where he was a tad late in getting steals, making plays with the ball going out of bounds instead. As he becomes more comfortable and settles into more of a rhythm he will get better.

He is only playing 20 minutes a game. Not sure why he is being toasted for playing 20 minutes a game. Who are you going to put out there for those 20 minutes?

Copeland and brewer?
Copeland and white?
Remember this game there was no kidd. When kidd comes back, white? copeland? brewer? Who would be better?

Let the kid get comfortable, get back into a rhythm, get his legs back (remember amare first couple of games?). Shump is gonna be a decent player in this league. People mentioned tony allen. He should likely reach that level. Give em time.
