Concur with the above recommendation of Movida. One of the only places in town you can get authentic, and more importantly TASTY, paella. Ton of bars in Walker's Point for post dinner drinking. Couple more "unique" TASTY spots would be La Merenda (Walker's Point) and Odd Duck (Bay View). Former owners of Roots just opened up Cloud Red in Shorewood. It was delicious. After you could pop over to Three Lions or Thief Wine bar. Also like to belly up to the bar at Swinging Door. Fantastic food.

The Del Bar is awesome. Not cheap, but outstanding food and service. My colleagues at work and I have dinner there once a year and I've never had a reason to complain.

I want to second the suggestion on La Merenda. Really good tapas and excellent service.

I've mentioned it here before, but I'm still a big fan of Vanguard. Red Light at Ardent is pretty damn cool late night for Ramen if you can swing that.

Polonez. Good, authentic Polish food on the south side.
Ono Kine Grindz on North in Tosa. Hawaiian. Amazing.
India Garden on 117th & Burleigh (go for lunch --- AMAZING buffet!)
TomKens 80th and Greenfield - Best Chicken and best Wings in town.

Oh man, that menu is so much better than the one my friend wants to hit up. And they've got oysters. :droop:

The oysters are great. I'd also recommend the Shrimp De Jonghe. I usually get a steak and the Small Plate Shrimp de Jonghe as an app. Just mouth-wateringly good.

She's from way the hell out of state and picked out a damn supperclub straight outta the 60s with a menu to match. Not something I'm keen on driving four hours for on a Friday night. But give me some bomb ass seafood and I'm down.

Yeah, I get that, especially as you can find some nice supper clubs in your neck of the woods.

The Del Bar definitely has a bit of a high class supper club feel out of the 60s, but the quality of the food is timeless.

Another somewhat similar spot is Ishnala. Definitely a supper club spot right on the lake. Really beautiful spot for dinner/drinks, but the quality of the food isn't on the same level as Del Bar IMO.

How many people know your decision right now?

Not many. It's a very, very small number. And I probably could count them on my fingers.

One hand or two hands?

Let's say one.

When did you decide?

I think I decided this afternoon. I mean, I decided this afternoon I went day to day. I wake up one afternoon, it's this restaurant. I wake up another afternoon, it's this restaurant. And it's a process that I felt it was I may feel like this is the best opportunity for me or not the best opportunity for me.

But this afternoon I woke up, had a great conversation with my realgm chums. Once I had that conversation, I think I was set.

So the last time you changed your mind was yesterday?

The last time I changed my mind was probably in my dreams. And when I woke up this afternoon I knew it was the right decision.

So does the restaurant that you're going to, that you'll announce in a few minutes, do they know your decision?

They just found out.

They just found out?

Yeah.

So the other five, on pins and needles, they don't know; they'll be listening to this?

Right.

Who in this process, M-C-G, have you taken advice from and who has had the biggest influence?

I've taken a lot of advice from internet trolls, my friends and family. My yelp account, has been great. A lot of people that I look towards in a time of need or for advice, and ultimately they looked at me and said you ultimately have to live with your decision that you're going to make, and you have to do what's best for you, for your family and for you to ultimately be happy.

What was the major factor, the major reason in your decision?

I think the major factor and the major reason in my decision was the best opportunity for me to enjoy dinner and to enjoy dinner now and to enjoy dinner into the future also.

And enjoy dinnerning is a huge thing for me. Jim, you know ever since I was a rookie or even in high school, we always talked, that was the number one thing for me: Help my restaurantmates get better and just wanting to enjoy dinner. And I've done some great things in my seven years, and I want to continue to do that.

How deep of an evaluation do you have to do to go through that to figure out tomorrow, next year and beyond, that equation, that enjoy dinnerning?

One thing that you can't control is you never know. You never know. You want to put yourself in the position where you feel that it's the best opportunity. But saying I can enjoy dinner a championship meal next year or saying I can enjoy dinner it a year after, those are things that you don't know until you go out there and actually play the game.

But you have to put yourself in the right position to be able to compete and also accomplish the meals that you set out for.

Do you have any doubts about your decision?

No. I don't have any doubts at all.

Would you like to sleep on it a little longer, or are you ready to make this decision?

I've slept enough. Or the lack of sleep.

Are you still a nail biter?

I have a little bit. Not of late.

You've had everybody else biting their nails. So I guess it's time for them to stop chewing. The answer to the question everybody wants to know: M-C-G, what's your decision?

In this summer, this is very tough, in this summer I'm going to

Ha, I assumed as much. It's a pretty well known Dells Supper Club. It is a legitimately nice location right on the lake - a great place to grab a post-dinner drink.

But for food? Nah. Del Bar is a lot better.

Good luck with that. I've been there. The food was good, but I also got awful food poisoning and won't be going back.
