I really hope Riles sneaks in there to get the last word tomorrow. Seal the deal, good sir.

I don't care about Dion if we land Hayward. I'm good with Rich, TJ, and McGruder. Winslow can play spot minutes on the wing too. However, if we don't.... Yeah, we're probably just an 8th seed without him. I'm not comfortable with giving him a long term deal with lots of money either way.

If Hayward decides to not join us no prob, but if we lose Dion as well I think I would be pretty pissed...

Just give me Waiters, I have too many feels

While objectively I can admit Hayward is the better player. IMO personality wise he doesn't really fit our esentric fun bunch.

An interesting move would be to bring the team back. Set our sites on the Banana boat operation of 2018 and set up the 2003 draft class retirement plan.

Next off-season you unload Dragic, Hassan, TJ, Elington, JJ, and Waiters for picks. Expected haul of 6-7 first rounders. You leave Bam, Winslow, and Mcgruder all on team friendly and tiny cap controlled deals.

You ask LeBron, Melo, Wade, and CP3 to split 90 mil. That group wants to coast, they will want no part of the West, when they can be in the East and walk into the finals.

You end up with something like this

CP3
Mcgruder/Wade
LeBron/Winslow
Melo
Bam

You surround the Banana boat with young cap controlled assets in an environment known for player development to counter their age, and ring chasing vets to provide firepower.

Objectively we are the ideal situation for that if we so want to be the destination, for tax reasons, coaching reasons, winning, and market.

It would take Riley mending some fences, but would be a good way to go out, with him exiting the league with this group of stars that could give us a solid 2-3 year run. Our future would be our young assets that would have the opportunity to learn from the best of the best from the previous gen.

Losing Dion if we miss out on Hayward would indeed suck. I wonder how Miami would rebound from that.

Let's say we:
-lose out on Hayward and Dion.
-Sign JJ and extend Jrich
- Fill rest of the roster with 1-year deals

Would we have much space next summer without trading Tyler?

I just can't figure out why celtics fans think they so much better then the heat when all 4 games last season was close and the heat were never 100% for any of the games and everyone had the heat beating them in the first round if they had made it

This doesn't worry me. That's the thing about having a culture like ours. We are a factory that takes broken players and makes them fit and primed.

2015-16: Luol Deng, Joe Johnson
2016-17: Dion Waiters, James Johnson, Willie Reed

Aside from that look what we've done with our undrafted players and 2nd rounders: Rodney McGruder, Tyler Johnson, Okaro White, Josh Richardson.

My choices if we lose Hayward and whiff on Waiters:

1. Thomas Robinson (PF)
2. Cole Aldrich (take that OKC pick Milwaukee is offering) (C to backup Whiteside)
3. Tyreke Evans (previously suggested here) even broken. We can put Humpty Dumpty together again.
4. Omri Casspi?

Then we watch the Summer League and G League games and just do it again.

We just have to make the playoffs to make me happy. As I've said before, we are not contending, not even with Hayward, I think.

Chalm's needs to run to the meeting asap in San Diego and distract Utah executives & co. What are you good at Chalms? Showcase it.
