There was a time where a start like this would have me borderline depressed for a good 24hrs. Not anymore, though. If the team doesn’t care, why should I? If the owner and GM don’t care, why should I? And if the fans don’t care (ie: they still go to the games and financially back a bad product), then why the hell should I?

Really wish I could just stop caring altogether. But they’ll put together a streak here and there, probably make the playoffs or something and I’ll be right back on-board. Ugh.

I'll keep watching the games on TV, etc, but I will not buy any tickets or merchandise. Thats probably the best way I can show Teddy how much of a hot mess this is, without totally disconnecting (yet).

Same. Hell, that was what I did last year too (and last year wasn’t THAT much of a dumpsterfire). But there aren’t many Wiz fans like us out there. If the team is in DC, fans will show up. They will still buy merchandise and Ted will continue to “follow the plan”.

I'd like to know how many tickets are purchased by PEOPLE who are Wizards fans, and how many tickets are purchased by companies, which then distribute the tickets. I *think* (I dont know this) that at times when the Wizards suck, the tickets are bought up by companies through good marketing by the Wizards. Basically, Teddy wins because he will get positive cash flow regardless (if what I *think* is actually true). Therefore, he will not change his tune.

APATHY

John Wall is trying hard.

He's not responsible for this situation. The truth is the guys who are really responsible are Grunfeld and Brooks.

They failed to get the job done well. They have NO INCENTIVES to make some changes in their own approach. They're UNEDUCATED PEOPLE to the extent they want whatever they want above what is best.

Good riddance.

18 assists on 43 made baskets.

Wall with 20 attempts in 28 minutes, Beal with 16 in 29 minutes.

After last game these guys were pointing fingers talking about agendas and not playing together, lol, how out of touch are those two?

This team is done.

Actually forced myself to watch the game despite having the result spoiled... what the **** is Brooks having those guys run on defense?

These guys switch EVERYTHING, for no apparent reason.

I've hated it last year, but it's even worse this year. Is this something Brooks cooked up over the offseason or are these players simply taking matters into their own hands?

Blows my mind how these guys readily switch into obvious mismatches, not out of duress, but because **** it, that's just what they do.

No contests, no hard close outs either, these guys play like they don't give a ****, and don't get me started on John Wall consistently going under picks against shooters because he can't be bothered to fight through picks. What the **** is wrong with him?

It's not much better on offense. No ball movement, no player movement, absolutely pitiful.

This looks like a 15 win team.

Deja-vu, EFJ going 1-10 before getting fired.
Things are looking really bad and there’s only one guy who is going to take the fall.

Mahinmi is a terrible centre (had high hopes with his dropped weight). Morris looks like he is playing in slow motion even more than last year. That will probably be Rivers best game this year and it was ***. Porter has disappeared and I cant even tell if its his fault.

But the worst part is Brooks is a disgustingly bad coach. Rotations are straight up garbage and he has no idea when to ake a time out or keep track of how many he has left. The defensive scheme seems to be "switch until they shoot over a mismatch and pathetically contest the shot."

Sack the entire coaching staff and deport Ernie Grunfeld. Bring in whoever to GM and coach, it doesnt matter. They could hire a bum off the street and they'd do a better job than these clowns.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

From the current Wizards staff, who'd you even have running this circus?

These guys are all basketball lifers, but let's be honest, none of those guys will ever come up as headcoaching candidates in this league.

“Hey, we gotta get rid of Marcin. He’s the problem on this Wiz squad.” Suuuuuuuure.

Wall needs to be traded. He's our biggest trading asset. He is not dishing the ball (like he is capable of doing) at the rate we expect, and instead is shooting more.

Wall our biggest trading asset? The perception of him around the league right now is that he’s poor leader who butts heads with teammates, a ball dominant pg who cant shoot, takes bad shots, can’t play off the ball, takes plays off on defense regularly and is gonna take up a third of your teams salary cap for the next 4 years. Outside of maybe Phoenix, there’s not one team that I can think of that would trade for him

Wall’s a current day Stephon Marbury.

to be fair, the entire league is basically switching everywhere. it's just that the wizards are doing it so much worse than others.

Well... I'm glad I didn't stay up to watch this game, & I'm going to wipe it off my DVR pronto!

Why did Troy Brown only get 7 minutes in a game like this?

Yeah, no, that's not what's happening around the league.

Yes, bigs are increasingly expected to switch and defend guards on the perimeter and you find guards increasingly having to contend with players in the post, but most defenses don't feature those switches as a staple.

The Wizards don't even make an effort to guard their guy, they switch and switch and switch for no reason and happily into mismatches without having to.

I know that Gortat gets hated on, but I was going to start a thread, would we have one at-least 3 more games had Gortat been our center?

Return to Washington Wizards
