I have no idea what he's talking about.

You put Stevens against any coach in those 6 years and he'll likely come out on top as the biggest overachiever. Depending on how much you value the Warriors just winning with more talent or not.

Like jesus christ how do you think Stevens became listed as Pop's successor in those 6 years? By doing poorly? Jesus.
This is just Boston pride imo.

Media calls him Pops successor...okay.. so?

Pop can manage personalities. Players respect him.

He's tougher than Brad. Brad may have the basketball xo skills of pop, but he certainly does not have the personality management skills, which, like it or not, is JUST as important when coaching a championship team with star players. All these things together, it's not an absurd take to say we need to take a step back from calling Brad the best, or second best coach in the NBA.

He's really not better at managing personalities.

He completely **** up his relationship with his 25 year old MVP player that he won a championship with tot he point he sat out a season to leave.

And he lost control of his team to his vets like Parker who were saying things such as "I had the same injury and came back in 2 weeks".

Then he forced an awful trade from a GM for a crap player like Derozen instead of getting actual valuable rebuilding pieces for the superstar who he destroyed the relationship with.

What Pop had was Duncan. Who is the best PF potentially of all time. Just like Phil had Shaq and Mike.

Stevens so far has had IT and Irving.

Give Stevens an MVP player with amazing leadership like Duncan or just at the time by far the most dominant player in the league such as a Shaq or Jordan then judge if he's better at "managing personalities" than those two.

So far he's overachieved dramatically with the talent he has been given.

I don’t think Brad is anything special. Never did. To me he has his strengths and as many weaknesses. He’s just another coach to me. I think he’s particularly bad with handling personalities. You make good points with Popvich though. I actually think Pop USED to be good at this but started thinking he was king of the Spurs. It appears to me he put himself over the team.
I don’t know if Leonard would have asked our anyways. Personally, I don’t. If I’m Leonard I want one thing out of the Spurs after the quad- an admission they were wrong and an apology. If I don’t get that I would be gone at any cost too. Going to the press is always the coward move and I believe Pop unleashed his goons in Parker and Ginobli. Again- total speculation by me.
It’s funny though. Parker still being a team captain at that point. Hilarious. Dude is tied with Jason Richardson for worst teammate ever. Lol
