I don't know why Doc opened his big mouth to begin with. Would have made more sense to keep quiet to keep the heat off. There were repeated instances of tampering by the Clippers org and through Kawhi-PG talks. Lets see what the NBA does about it. Here's an idea: strip the Clippers of their 2025-2030 1st rounders!

And suspend both Kawhi and George for the first 20 games or so.

Give me an unprotected pick this year from the clips. The west is a bloodbath and if PG and Kawhi loose any games along with Lou getting old we might a lotto pick. Not a high one but still maybe a top 10 or 11.

Kawhi is good enough that he can make any roster a championship. But if he really feels that way . Which I believe as well based on the way he praised Rivers. Then he is really really wrong in his assessment and that may cause regret very soon.
Paul George is great player but he hasn't proven anything during the playoffs in his career. George has been a lot of stacked teams with the Pacers and the thunder. Meanwhile while within 3 year Pascal has won g league finals mvp and championship. And two years later he wins an nba championship and most improved player. Dude is clearly a winner on all levels of basketball. Hes also four years younger and healthier than George. So we'll see how his shoulders and leg holds up this year.
I guess doc Rivers is still riding from his title 13 years ago. I'm not saying doc Rivers is a terrible coach but he has a lil dwane casey in him. If you have good role players. He'll get you to overachieve in the playoffs. His plans is bully ball and wear up out. But that's all hes got. No x's or o's or no plan b nothing. Some even argue if Garnett was more the coach of the celtics team than him. With him in a tyronn lue situation. Meanwhile nick nurse has won at every league he has coached in. And he out coached every opponent he faced to a championship in his nba debut.

I don't take any of the darts he threw at siakam or nurse seriously. He just was trying to justify leaving a championship here and a career year with the raptors. To put it in life terms kawhi leonard is a high maintenance hot girl that desires to be with a man 6'2". Be the problem is you're 5'10. So no matter how great the chemistry or sex is she's gone as soon she see a man that height. And now she's trying to manipulate the man/situation to be with the man of her dreams. And be as happy and as successful as the last relationship. So kawhi has manipulated the situation and now hes gassing up the organization. This happens all the time in life.

To put the whole masai vs uncle Dennis thing in life terms. Mr 5'10 proposed to the hot girl. Even though hot girl made it clear that she's leaving you for Mr. 6'2, so her and her b!tch mom loss respect and sniff desparation .so b!tch mom tells hot girl let's manipulate Mr. 5'10 and and rob his savings and sell all his stocks for one more year of hot girl. Mr. 5'10 finally realized even though he had the best year of their life with hot girl. She's gone anyway, and she's more trouble than she's worth. Clippers have a stacked team and I think they will get better (eg veterans like Noah and Iguodala are available). PG and Kawhi will perform. Biggest challenges they have are a brutal playoff run and I believe Doc Rivers is overrated. Other than winning a ring with a stacked Celtics team in a weak conference he hasn't proven he's among the top tier of coaches. Players like him because of his charisma and he panders to them.

It's not Kawhi + PG on the Raptors for 2+ years minus Siakam + Salary Matchers versus Kawhi + Same Roster. It's Kawhi+PG and remaining pieces versus this current roster with no Kawhi with most of the core on expiring deals, because the situation is he's no longer on the roster.

It's essentially 2 more very high chances of winning the East and a solid chance of winning another title (and an ok chance at a 3-peat) while getting a situation where title-chasing veterans actually wanting to come to Toronto as a destination for the first time with the status of being Big Game Hunters while Durant is out/getting back to form, versus 1 very low chance of winning the East if no one is traded and then a rebuild.

Kawhi never gave a guarantee to Masai that he'd re-sign if the Raps landed PG.

Masai can't make that type of deal without assurances from Kawhi first.

The thing is if Kawhi wasn’t willing to to go back to TOR, I don’t think PG would be open to it. They wanted to play together. It likely would’ve played out similarly to the Clippers where Masai would get a commitment from Kawhi if he had a deal on the table before he pulled the trigger.

NBA needs to investigate this and penalize them. Suspensions for Kawhi and George, as well as losing additional future draft picks is fair.

I actually don’t believe Woj (though it doesn’t necessarily contradict Doc). This had all the hallmarks of a last minute trade. Regardless, if PG and Kawhi talked right before FA they can’t be suspended for that.
