Have we already discussed Fultz's mother and her controlling relationship on this board?

Because I'm worried if that is where the problem is, and during the break from basketball I hope he didn't take steps backward mentally after all the growth he made in Orlando.

https://973espn.com/fultzs-inner-circle-investigated-by-washington-post/

But some close to Fultz believe the problem is more than physical. In interviews, those who know Fultz — current and former teammates, NBA people as well as Washington-area allies — describe a life burdened by a number of factors, from a restrictive inner circle to lost allies to outside criticism. Those who have peeked inside this world tell stories of those closest to Fultz going to extreme efforts to keep personal details confidential.

At the center is a 20-year-old who seems to be struggling to exert control over his own life and career.

During Fultz’s first season in Philadelphia, Ebony had cameras installed inside his New Jersey home, according to several people familiar with the setup who described the indoor surveillance as unusual. The cameras have since been removed. Multiple people said Ebony has asked some who have dealt with Fultz to sign nondisclosure agreements for reasons that are unclear to them.

“There’s definitely crazy [expletive] going on with the mom and how involved she is and how overprotective she is,” said a person with a close connection to Fultz. “The best possible situation is if the mom just backs off for a period of time and gives him a chance to breathe.”

i think if the mother was heavily agianst him going into the bubble, they would have announced it much sooner.

also some are of the thought that they are more safer within the bubble in comparison to those of us outside and id argue they have a valid point

I don't mean that she has an issue with him going into the bubble, but perhaps she has been a control freak/disruptive to his life during the break from the NBA, and he needs to sort through that before he can enter the bubble.

Fultz is still not with the team, and when he does enter the bubble, must be locked in his hotel room for 48 hours. Right now that would mean he cannot join the team any sooner than Wednesday or Thursday, even if he entered "now".

Magic.com LINK

Clifford said the Magic had the same group of players available for Friday’s practice as they did for Thursday, meaning that point guard Markelle Fultz (excused absence for a personal matter) and an unspecified player (positive COVID-19 test) have yet to rejoin the squad. Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman said earlier in the week that there is an expectation that both players will soon rejoin the squad at Disney. However, once the players do rejoin the squad, they will be required by NBA rules to be quarantined in their hotel rooms for 48 hours before being allowed to return to the practice floor.

The only guys who aren't there...

James Ennis - rumored to have tested positive for COVID on June 23, but unconfirmed
Markelle Fultz - currently excused for personal reasons
Al-Farouq Aminu - not entering the bubble (knee)

People on twitter are saying the Disney bubble failed already with MLS this morning.

Please don't be true

I’m not a Twitter user ...

Would you mind summarizing?

Are these reliable sources? Such as athletes inside the bubble or just random fans?

EDIT: So one game has been canceled due to positive tests, inside the bubble, on both clubs.

“The bubble has failed” is opinion at this stage. But yes, this has been my fear. Someone (I won’t call out here) is on record as saying we will not see more than 5 positive tests once inside the bubble. Well, MLS has already blown past that number and is now canceling games.

As of 2 days ago ... before recent outbreaks causing canceled games:
At least 22 players from four teams have tested positive since entering Major League Soccer’s quarantine bubble on June 27.

Is this really worth it??

I doubt the MLS set up is as good as the NBA's though

Very true. MLS has far less funding ... but they also have far less attention on them and less “social baggage” surrounding them which is the carrier of this. NBA is a much larger spectacle and will be much harder to control. Can $$ alone do that?

It's not really a bubble if the Disney employees are going home then working. They won't be able to sheild form that.

How much contact are the players having with the Disney employees?

I wonder what kind of measures they have to prevent that

... even NBA people can check themselves in and out of the bubble. Precautions are in place with extra testing before and after but this is still a recipe for disaster.

I think it's interesting that the NBA has not released positive test numbers for this week, the most crucial of all weeks for this to work.

Also, the first preseason game is in 10 days, and there's no timetable for Fultz.

I'm thoroughly impressed at the scale of ineptitude to have 15,300 cases today. Just for context, the entire country of South Korea, home to 60+ million people, including 25 million that live in basically one huge connected city, had had a total of 13,200 cases all time. If anything, that might give me some more hope this bubble could actually work. The issue is, how thick is the bubble? Are these workers being tested? The videos I've seen post lockdown show a lot of interactions with Disney employees for these players.

Still no Fultz and no timetable for him to return according to Robbins (will still have to quarantine once he does). Something seems a bit off about that situation right now but I won't start to worry just yet.
