I'd love to get Bertans and Harris on the 1+1 deals, but that makes zero sense for them. We need shooters in the worst way, the Knicks have to be able to space the floor next year in order for our young guys to have some room to operate. However we're not in position that to start overpaying role players. Try to go after veterans who can bring shooting and still play roles off the bench like Marco Belinell and D.J. Augustin. I'd make a real run at Malik Beasley whose restricted, but with the Wolves winning the lottery and drafting Culver last year, perhaps they don't pay him. Josh Jackson might be worth the gamble, he strung some really interesting games for the Grizz and perhaps he finally started putting it together.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

According to a league source with knowledge of the Knicks thinking, some members of New York’s front office are “all in” on VanVleet as a free agent target, feeling that he is the best available player on the market. Despite speculation that the front office is not looking to add any long term money to the books, the source said they are planning on being involved in the sweepstakes for the combo guard this October.

I’m open to Harris for a bloated 1+1 deal too.

Draft Obi...

Cp3 | DSJr
Bane | Frank
RJ | Dotson | Vince
Obi1| Knox | Iggy
Mitch | Wooten | Tyson

To add to this... call me crazy, but I’d be up for throwing a big 1 year contract at Vince Carter to get him out of retirement to help mentor and develop RJ. Tyson Chandler too for Mitch lol. Probably rather do that than sign Joe Harris... forgot to add drafting Desmond Bane with the 27th pick... dude could be a young Allan Houston.

Omg, knicks finally looking at the bigger picture? I can’t believe this chit. 2021 draft is lit lit lit. We could be a semi playoff team or even a playoff team. If so we got picks and young players to dangle to move up for a guy we really want.

The fact we are interested shows we have a competent front office. This guys advance stats must be mind blowing. I say this because when you watch the games, he hits big shots and makes big plays in big games. If we can trade Randle for cap space somehow we in better position.

Also the guy is a catch and shoot artist. He can hit off the dribble shots. He can play defense. He doesn’t need the ball. Clearly the front office is prioritizing spacing and chemistry with RJ Barrett. Also Fred just seems like a Thibs type.

Let me add, even if we overpay for FVV right, at least we got Randle coming off the books if he somehow stays another year.

Knicks following the template of the Jazz. They want to build with RJ being the go to scorer clearly. Fred is perfect but we have to believe he’s our man and he is entering his prime. Not to mention he will be coming in from a team oriented basketball team in the raptors who promotes ball movement. It’s so perfect next to RJ can’t stress enough.

Add them to the long, long list of players acquired for more money in bigger roles than they had with their previous teams. It's just more of the same bullsh*t we saw last offseason and pretty much every offseason going alllll the way back to the Marbury trade.

This idiotic franchise just decided to pay/play Randle, Portis/Payton and company to squeeze out just enough wins to miss out on Edwards, Wiseman, Ball. It's exactly the same pattern we've seen forever and FVV would fit perfectly. Big bucks to be a marquee name with delusional expectations on a roster where everybody knows they are just trade bait or roster fodder for Dolan's need for the next 2010 savior.

It's 2020. This sh*t has gone on for a decade nonstop and yet fans still get excited to see FVV get paid. Fans still try to justify why "this time it's different." Same bullsh*t. We're not "developing RJ & Mitch." At best, we're propping up their trade value for the first glimpse of a disgruntled Carmelo-level star.

Trade Randle, sign FVV and Bertans, and draft Vassell/Terry

I would watch the hell out of a team like this

FVV / Terry
Vassell / Frank
RJ / Iggy
Bertans / Knox
Mitch / Wooten

can't agree with any of this.

Targeting free agents that actually would compliment our young core and can shoot would be a huge improvement.

FVV, Harris, and Bertans are exactly the type of players we should be monitoring and looking into.

Bertans Would be a huge pick-up, this would greatly benefit RJ and Mitch. now just put randle off the bench or ship randle away for capspace

I also disagree, the fact that we show Interest shows the front office knows how to put together a team with spacing. Last year we signed guys Bc we had to and even their shooting percentages went down because of spacing. Wake up.

Imagine hawks with

Trae
Huerter
Hunter
Bertans
Collins/ Capela

Sheesh I would hate facing that team

FVV & Jerami Grant.

FVV on a 20m decreasing 3-4 year deal
Jerami on a 1+1 team option deal with a heavy 1st year so we keep 2021 max cap space

Then draft Vassel or Haliburton.

Defense wins games.

The Raptors promote ball movement, but they have 3 primary ball handlers with FVV, Lowry and Pascal. He's my top free agent target because he's a very good defender, he's accustomed to playing off ball already, and most importantly he was at 44% on catch and shoot threes this season on 3.9 attempts per game. That is a higher percentage than Danny Green on the same amount of attempts who is literally just a catch and shoot guy only.
