The playoffs should be 8 teams period, at 16 the play ins make plenty sense. Pretty funny Lebron is crying about it now that his team is at risk. Don’t like it? Win more games.

Can’t do your end of season coast + stay at the top of the standings like before in the East with previous super teams.
Now it’s either you do your annual rest(Miami trip etc) or you don’t and stay at the top of standings. He chose to sit and is now complaining because he’s terrified to lose to GSW or Portland smh.

He’s kicking rocks right now wishing Kawhi also joined him. This well balanced great defensive team with another top 7 player in AD, ain’t enough. :lol:

It is a stupid idea. What's the point in playing 72 or 82 games when 2/3rds of the league make the post-season anyway??

Might as well just cut the regular season to 30-40 games and just have full 7-game series from the 10th seed up.

Post-season is meant to be exclusive achievement, not a participation trophy where most of the teams get to play. Look at the MLB – 10 of the best teams make it out of the regular season.

I agree with LeBron, play in tournaments are stupid in professional basketball, but last year he did say he was for it.

If the lakers weren't dangerously close to the play in tournament he wouldn't say anything.

I've always said the play-in tournament was completely unnecessary. Last year I was fine with it because the length of the season was adjusted midseason. But this year it is completely unnecessary.

The NBA has had strike-shortened seasons in the past where 82 games weren't played and "somehow" they managed to keep the normal 1-8 season playoff format intact.

Also, this feels like a desperate attempt by the league to keep more fans and teams interested and engaged for the entire season.

I could almost understand their thinking if only about a 1/3 of the teams make the playoffs like in MLB and the NFL, but that's not the case. Over 50% of the league already made the playoffs under the traditional format. Now they're essentially watering it down to about 2/3 of the league participating in the postseason in some fashion.

Message to the NBA: You know what will keep fans and teams interested and engaged for the entire season? Clamping down on teams mailing it in and deactivating their best players 30 games into the season. Fix that crap first. That's where the real problems with fan interest lie.

Lakers are tied 8th with the most wins the year
Wizard are tied with 20th most lol yet stuck in same situation currently for the playin tourney.

Two and two doesn’t add up here. It’s a crap idea absolute joke. Anyone on the Lakers would tell anyone outside the top 8 to gtfo try better next year we got wins and safely above .500. Thought this was an elite competition. Sounds more like a junior div to me.
