Great BBIQ but the strength and size of his hands allows him to do stuff like that. The kid is special and looks like he actually loves playing the game. Can’t help but root for him.

if cade can keep up those lofty numbers i will give him roy over mobley. his efficiency sucks so he must be a volume guy.

This you?

Yes his efficiency has been terrible. Not including today's game in December this are his numbers

21.5 PPG 5.3 RPG 4.2 APG 44.5 FG% 46.2 3PTFG% in 6 games and 34 mpg

Super inneficient :noway:

This guy doesn't have a clue. He pretends like he's the know all and be all when it comes to this draft class. Clearly has an agenda.

At this pace, it'll be tough to decide who the rookie of the month will be. Wagner and Barnes have had good months too.

Shooting poorly, otherwise a great game

His court vision and passing (with either hand) is just sublime. He's a better passer with his left hand than most players are with their stronger hand, and is probably already the best "baseball" passer in the league after Jokic. He might even be better given he throws them with either hand.

Combine that with his height and he can basically get any pass he wants. Hard to believe he is only just 19.

One Rookie flying under the radar at the moment is Josh Christopher. He has been given consistent minutes for the past 7 games and he has really used that opportunity.

12.0 PPG in 24.3 MPG on 70.9 TS% (!). Per 36 he posts 17.8 Points, 4.4 Assists and 1.9 Steals with 3.4 Turnovers. 12/24 (50%) on 3s, 20/30 (67%) on 2s.

He has one of the highest upsides in the draft as an on-ball creator with his athleticism, handles, creativity and mentality as long as the shot is a threat and his playmaking continues to develop – and the early returns here are positive even though the percentages from 3 will inevitably drop. He has defensive upside, too – strong, quick hands and puts in the work.

So far, this draft class absolutely lives up to the hype!

wagner isn't just guard-like... he's a guard period. 6'9 players shouldn't be this quick with the ball plus those handles.

I know a lot of non-Rap fans (rightfully) have some Scottie Barnes post fatigue  but that vid is worth watching. Sure I'll get flamed or thought to be a homer which I try hard not to be like but those really were damn near (didn't say exact) Jokic-like -- the touch pass out to the 3pt line & the cross court that he whipped while he was mid-air to right under the basket to Champaigne were some special passes. Flame away but I think he has the best combination (scoring + passing) of anyone in this class so far (yes obv Mobley has the defense).

I think this next stretch of Cavs games with Mobley out will determine just how impactful he has been on the defensive end vis-a-vis the other guys on that roster. Either the team will be much worse defensively, cementing Mobley as a real potential DPOY candidate this year, or the team will remain about the same defensively and it will be clear that Mobley is benefitting immensely from his teammates on that end of the floor.

Currently, Cavs players are posting absolutely bonkers defensive ratings:
Mobley: 98.2
Love: 98.4
Rubio: 99.3 (!)
Garland: 101.1 (!!)
Okoro: 101.6
Allen: 101.8
Markkanen: 104 (!!)

How Cleveland performs with Mobley out should help us evaluate better where he stands in the ROY race. If Cleveland struggles defensively then I think that cements him as the frontrunner. If Cleveland remains an elite defensive team then it is clear Mobley’s eye-popping defensive numbers are being boosted by his teammates (not to say he isn’t an excellent defender) and he falls behind Barnes and probably Cade as well in the race IMO.

The games Mobley has missed will like hurt him in the rookie ladder. Barnes and Cade will probably both pass him Tuesday. For some reason Wagner doesn't get any recognition, so I think he stays in 4th, unless Giddey passes him.

Need a bigger sample size. Point is moot now anyways though with Allen entering protocols along with a bunch of other Cavs.

The difference is that Mobley's 'transcendental' defense is his claim to ROY. The gap between him and the rest of the rookies on that end is said to be massive as evidenced by his jaw-dropping defensive numbers of him individually and the team. If the team continues to post incredible defensive numbers in his absence then that obviously weakens his claim. Barnes' claim to ROY has far more to do with his incredible play on the other end of the court, and the gap between him and Mobley on that end is huge. Only Cade and Franz approximate Barnes on that end and both are much better offensive players than Mobley right now as well.

I see Cade taking most if not all the rookie of the month awards from here on out. Ofcourse assuming Detroit doesn't rev up the tank by cutting his minutes or anything. He's just a total stat stuffer and has adjusted to the pace of the game.

That's probably right. Franz might be second.

Franz 48/40/87, 17.4 PPG, 5.7RPG, 4.1 APG, 1.3 SPG in 9 games.

1. Cade
2. Mobley (once he gets back)
3. Barnes
4. Franz
5. Giddy

That's how I have them ranked right now with injuries, stats, and affect on winning. They're all good though.

I love Franz but not sure how you have him above Barnes even for the month of December. Barnes is average 16.3 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.6 BPG, 0.9 SPG in 7 games on 52/36/71 splits but more importantly, his team is 5-2 in that stretch. So he's contributing as much as Franz but in more 'meaningful' minutes. The one thing that I give Franz is his efficiency since he is the focus of most teams now that the team is decimated by injuries and covid. He has been good even with defenses keying in on him.
