So I like strongly disagree that we were bad with him, we were a .500 team, which IMO was acceptable in the improved East, with a two new starters.

Only after defhe got benched, we had a our first 3 game losing streak, our defense got worse, our record got worse. So that decision was a categorical failure.

But you illustrate another point about this fanbase, this board was acting like the sky was falling when we were hovering around .500, with Knicks fans if you aren’t overachieving then you’re automatically undeachieving …there’s like no inbetween

Look, we weren’t world beaters with Kemba in the starting lineup but the criticisms were overblown, there small signs of chemistry developing, IMO

We can speculate all day about whether we would still have our current record if Kemba stayed in the lineup but the fact of the matter is we got worse with the decision to remove him completely from the rotation.

That is irrelevant at this point

Kenna will not pour in three pointers on a nightly basis. He was well rested and that’s all you can derive from last game

Randle is a bigger problem now but Kemba fixes nothing if his cartilage is gone.

Shooters practice shooting. Randle clearly slacked off.

If his outside shooting was actually any good now it would paper over his many current deficiencies on offense.

It still wouldn't excuse his abysmal lack of effort defensively, but it would certainly help the team if he could shoot again.

I like the notion of cutting his minutes and then leaning on him to play defense since he'll presumably have more gas in the tank not playing as much.

There has to be a way of getting through to him. This has become pretty disturbing

You do know Kemba is a team high 41.7% from three, right? I think that might fix a few things

You do know Kemba is a team high 41.7% from three, right? I think that might fix a few things

I didn't say he can't shoot. He can play a role, but he solves very little. He's not much of a playmaker and you'll get 10-15 points from him while his assignment will often score as much or more since he can't defend a wet paper bag. Kemba is a wash most nights and rarely would he be a difference maker. Don't lean in so hard on him being any kind of a solution, because he's a tiny cog at best.

Did he need to be banished from the rotation? I don't think so, but I also don't think you can get very far with him in the starting lineup either. You need a beast backcourt defender next to him to even consider it, maybe McBride. But I still think that's probably a waste of time since Kemba will usually end up missing plenty of games. He cannot handle regular workloads any longer.

if you can't build around Julius as the #1 (which you can't because he's not a #1 or #2), and you can't add 2 stars, might as well trade him, focus on developing the young players and getting better draft position so that we can maybe get a star that way

I mean, this is team Tank's reasoning for tanking. why is it that all of a sudden so many people have come to this realization?

all of a sudden people are perplexed as to why paying a #3 option before you're sure you have your #1 and #2 options on the team is illogical, in a team sport where shrewd cap management is a necessity to building a team that can thrive.

I've always been a tanker. never believed that this was more than just a treadmill team. glad other fans are coming to that realization as well.....but will the FO?

and the 3 is no better. that's the biggest thing derailing him. the effort on defense too but he wouldn't be the first good player to slack off on defense. his jump shot was only good for 1 year. maybe it really was the empty gyms. lots of guys shoot better in practice.
