Re: OFFSEASON THREAD, VOL. REALLY HOT
This team swings for the fences. Thankfully they are always involved in talks due to their reputation as an organization; yet people complain about leverage plays and swinging and missing.
Try being a fan of 80% of the league that aren’t even good enough to take a swing or be used as leverage!

Can we at least strike out on all of them before bringing out the caskets and kleenex?

Had Lowry and Duncan merely maintained their level of play from the previous season then no one would be bitching about those moves because we would've been in the Finals and might've even won it. But those two inexplicably fell off an absolute cliff and it completely phucked us. At some point you have to put the responsibility and blame on the players and not the front office or coaches or whatever

- Strus gets a little better
- We find a stopgap to play the 4

And we get bounced in the 2nd round rather than swept in the 1st
Number two is least likely. Little boy peaked. He doesnt have the frame, playmaking ability or athleticism to be more than what he is.
Perhaps he did peak
But just for fun, can you cite me any other players who peaked at age 22 where injuries weren't involved? It might've happened before but it just seems like it would be extremely unusual for that to happen

I doubt he will. This all thing about leverage already proved to be wrong on several ocassions.
That being said, with still some bad blood between OKC and KD, he might ask for a minor asset.

We paid big bucks to an over 35 year old point guard. Those are the facts, one can't spin that. Maybe if it was Chris Paul I get it but not Lowry. As for Duncan, we knew he is not a defensive player, that was not some random realization. We knew Herro was not a defensive player, this is not a surprise to anyone. You can't play them together unless you want to ignore all sensibility of defense and go all out on offense.

That's exactly what we can offer and more. Herro putting up 20/5/4 on a contender at 22 years old is considered young star production that also happens to really compliment Simmons. We have the 3 picks available. I'd add Jovic as a de facto 4th pick value and try to see if we can flip any of Strus, Vincent for another pick to sweet the deal.
personally, I think they're looking for a better return.

Re: OFFSEASON THREAD, VOL. REALLY HOT
The thing about a Kyle Lowry + Tyler Herro + picks package, is it is a very good tanking package with some upside.
You can absorb Kyle's contract for 2 years if you are rebuilding. It allows you to gut the team and meet the salary cap floor with one big contact. 2 years is not too long. Not like Duncan for 4 years which noone wants to plan around.
Herro is a great piece because you unleash him and he will put bums on seats. He is exciting without actually at this stage contributing to winning as much as you like, but is great to watch while you tank. Though he still has the potential to turn into a winning player.
I am not sure that works for A KD trade - Nets owe a lot of their future to Houston from previous trades, so a tank is not as practical. Utah and Donovan Mitchell, a tank may be a better option, they own most of their 1st picks and the one thst they owe OKC is mostly lotto protected.
Of course the flip of that is Miami's picks being offered in the future, well Butler is older, and if you drop Kyle and Herro, you are looking at Bam + whoever we get in the trade (say KD or Donovan) as the team that will drive the position of outgoing picks and swaps for the next 4-5 years. Donovan + Bam is probably enough to guarantee a good team throughout (bad picks), while a 34-37 year old KD, a 33-36 year old Jimmy taking up to 105 million in their last year combined could cripple the team if their play tapers off

Surprised Philly aren't trying Maxey and Harris. Harris has 2 years left on his contract

They very well could be. Although its possible KD and Harden aren't crazy over reuniting.

Obviously other teams have better trades it’s just scenario wise, I doubt our assets are enough
