Black's shot will be the big question. If he gets that down, watch out.
I dont think Fultz is anywhere near Black as a passer or as a defender. He cant toss a lob to safe his life in pick and roll and he rarely involves the big man. One bad timed lob he threw to WCJ was a story here for a week. To me Fultz high bbiq is a fan fiction. His regularly defers and creates nothing outside midrange shot for himself.
I am curious to see Black who is also bad shooter right now but at least makes good decisions.
This is classic. One bad play gets ingrained in your head and then forever defines your opinion of him. WCj has been a HUGE benefactor of passes from Fultz. Your preaching doesn't stick in my head, even though you keep repeating this. Talk about fan fiction. Look in the mirror.
Good decision maker? For every good pass Black made, he made a bad one. His TO rate is atrocious. Oh and btw, he can't go left. It's really quite hilarious. But that comes with a guy who has a rudimentary handle. All straight line, off balance stuff... if Anthony Black becomes something good, I'll be shocked. Future Michael Carter Williams type.

This. I think they will love packing the paint and watching the bricks clank off the rim. Big guys looking to stat pad def rebounds are gonna have magic games circledSkin wrote:MagicMatic wrote:Teams will absolutely hate playing The Magic when they roll out a Black/Suggs back court. I’ll bet if they both play healthy minutes they combined get to the top in steals.
Goes 2 ways. They could LOVE it. That is easily the worst shooting backcourt in the league.

Skiles was the PG for the first half of Penny's first season. Skiles was a stat factory. He had a 30 assist game the year before. Once they made the move and put Penny at PG, the team was so much better even tho Penny wasn't putting up the stats Skiles did.

It was actually one good play but whatever. I was low on Fultz long before this season.
WCJ was HUGE benefactor of Fultz passes, but his best month was november when Fultz was injured.
Among two man starter lineups Fultz/Carter was the second worst, just in front of Banchero/Carter.
I am not suprised you just make up facts to defend Fultz. Maybe look less in the mirror and more at film and stats when you talk about players.
Black played without spacing and still he managed to score at efficient 50%+ from 2. He had high usage which impacts his turnover rate and still team was much better with him on the floor.
I have no idea how good will Black become. Maybe you should work at the front office if you can predict the future of all prospects.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

WCJ scored 1.4 baskets per game after passes from Fultz the last season, which is only 25% of his total baskets per game (5.6).

Re: The Anthony Black Thread
Black must've blew the workouts away. He worked out for Washington, and the rumor was that he wasn't going to make it past them. He worked out for Utah, and they were trying to move up to 5 and take him. Black said that he had a really good workout for Orlando and wouldn't be surprised if they took him.

We are lucky Houston and Detroid are not the best at evaluating prospects. Weaver is accumulating big man and non shooting guards/wings. I wonder how it will end.

Re: The Anthony Black Thread
I like the player…I just have questions about where he’ll fit…if he’s expected to be our starting PG, it’s a great pick, given the way many talking heads are gushing over his BBIQ and court vision. I really don’t want to hear some “versatile, Swiss-army knife” BS when we have such glaring needs.
To me, it’s a great pick if he’s really considered a PG.
Fultz, Cole And Suggs should be wondering how this is going to shake out. I think we will be active this summer. If Suggs’ shot takes another step forward, he’s rock solid and our defense is hellacious…if it doesn’t, he’s suddenly a lesser redundant defensive guard. This should be it for Fultz…Black looks like a bigger, better version with (due to age) more hope of developing shooting.

Because media also wants to be proven right, and there is nobody who will call them down for own mistakes, so it's much easier to slap As and Bs and have braging rights to be proven- right than opposite. This swing happends in aftermath of Porzingis draft hate that had spectacular backfire on people who looked like clowns for dissing him. People tend to remember who was ultra low and proven wrong, than being ultra low and proven right. To this date you have clips of dummies hating on Luka pre draft. Nobody really shows clips of people who were high on him ( or i don't know, ultra low on Biyombo and proven right).
For last several years ,most post draft grades are usually high. I went back to see grades for 2018,2019,2020 and 2021 . It's usually bunch of As and Bs.
For example we got A+ for Bamba by CBSports
For 2021 as draft houl, CBSports gave nobody but Kings grade below B ( other than Bucks and somebody else without first round pick, but that's grading draft based on some random 56th pick ).
It's strategic overhype imo.
They have to sell hope for the fans, otherwise people won't sell out season tickets.
that's not going to be a problem, we got paolo and franz for that....now we have more pieces that can help.....and mind you that would've been anyone else we would've drafted at #6

This is where I’m at as well.
I like the player a lot, but Fultz at some point (ideally sooner than later, but that’s not happening) needs to leave for this to really work.

Re: The Anthony Black Thread
A lot of doom and gloomers in here and around magic twitter disappointed with the team have to remember one thing, this could(possibly) be our last time picking in the lottery for a while.
The Magic aren’t looking or shooting for star players in this draft. They already have that in Franz and Paolo.
Anthony black is gonna provide some nice defense length and playmaking ability off the bench, and could possible become the long term starting guard for us.
Jett is the shooter people have been begging for for years and just cause his last name isn’t dick people are disappointed??
Shoutout to the magic fans that are excited and pumped for the future cause remember the guys the Magic have drafted are here to help the team be even greater , not be the saviors of the franchise.

Is Black our PG?
Curious what people think about this simple question and what it means for Fultz
