2023-24 PRESEASON, Multi-Game Thread – Next: 7:30PM, Tues, Oct, 17 vs Knicks

This shouldn't surprise anyone.

-Queta is the youngest big we have and has only played like 7 total NBA games in the 2 seasons he's been in the league so clearly he is last on the depth chart - at least heading in to camp.

-Between Kornet and Gabriel, they're probably fairly comparable in terms of how good they are. But Kornet has been here for like 3 years now. Gabriel has played 0 games for the celtics and literally *just* showed up in camp, didn't start practicing with the team until day 2 of camp...so missed Day 1 and missed all of the optional workouts that most of our other guys had been coming in for for the several weeks leading up to camp.

Gabriel (and maybe even Queta) could end up giving Kornet a run for his money, but it'll take time. Kornet knows where he's supposed to be out there, he doesn't make mistakes, he doesn't try to do too much, he has size and he had some solid advanced stats last season in certain categories and for the most part was a very solid 3rd big last season - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Gabriel/Queta will probably have to really impress in order to leapfrog him.

While there has been plenty of hoopla around Boston’s big acquisitions, Hauser made a point of singling out one of his bench mates for their play during training camp thus far.

“I think Payton’s had a great camp,” Hauser said. “He’s really, really been aggressive. He worked really hard this summer and I think he’s out for blood this year so I’m really excited to see what he has to bring to the table.”

Payton Pritchard may be the one Celtic that benefits the most from Boston’s offseason dealing as two high-minute guards (Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogdon) were sent out the door. That leaves a key opening for him off the bench as a reserve after playing of uneven playing time last season. Entering a contract year, Pritchard looks poised to try to make himself a permanent fixture in the team’s rotation during what has been a competitive camp.

I see Coach Joe is hyping up Kornet with the fans and media. The great thing about him backing up Porzingis is there literally won't be any drop-off.

Truthfully I'm keeping my expectations a bit tempered. Still not sold on Joe, but you better believe I'm pumped for a damn preseason game!

Here's what they're not telling you. They can make it all about the additions of Porzingis and Holiday, but the real reason why we traded away Brogdon, Smart, and Timelord is to clear the runway for Pritchard and Kornet.

This is the most excited I've been in a long time because the team made sizable changes.

Smart gone = addition but subtraction.

Good to see Cs fans excited for a preseason game.

For me, the excitement starts 1st week of May 2024.
