I have less than zero confidence they stay healthy, but this Clippers team is nasty. I was super wrong on them. Kawhi’s still Kawhi, Harden has been exactly what they’ve needed, and Lue has figured things out lineup wise.

But yeah, unfortunately for that fanbase seems almost a lock that one or more of those guys are gonna be hurt when it matters.

On the latest Lowe Post, Bontemps kept saying that Boston has 6 of the top 50 players in the league…he’s saying Horford is a top 50 guy?

Strange spacing from Philly on that last play to tie the game.

Embiid and Maxey putting up 51 FGAs and playing 37/39 minutes leads to early season wins but isn't sustainable, especially with Embiid's history. They play better when Harris and Oubre are more involved offensively.

This is the Nurse style though. No chance Midds is getting those restricted minutes if Nurse were coaching here.

Philly has a little flat track bully in them. Tonight was their first loss to a sub .500 team and they're 6-7 to teams that are above .500.

They've had a breezy schedule and I know it's fun to clown on Embiid, but he's having a truly special season right now. Not that I expect them to, but if the numbers maintain course then it's better than any Jokic or Giannis MVP season. That does then make you wonder how much stock to put in these box derived metrics though. He's currently shattering the PER record (34.4) that Jokic just set two years ago, and 4 of the Top-5 marks have all happened within the last 4-years.

I guess it goes to whether or not you believe the Pacers laser pointer story. Like that is scary stuff and he continued to play with guns after that. If the NBA didn't take a firm stance, they would open themselves to major legal liability if he did do something stupid.

It's the bare min, IMO but still is missing 15 games, going to lose probably $5m this year in fines and not be on the court for a tough Warriors stretch that may do them in. I think this hurt green more than the prior penalties.

Yeah, he’s been absurdly dominant. Some of this may be due to having a competent coach now - just like how we saw Giannis’s advanced stats take a jump when Bud became coach.

The thing that bothers me with Embiid is his statistical drop-off in the post season, and I don’t mean ts% or efg%, I’m mostly looking at things his counterparts have control over - usage percentage and assist percentage.

Embiid’s greatest contribution is his scoring, and he’s lead the league in usage percentage or been near to it for quite awhile, but when we get to the postseason, we’re seeing it drop pretty significantly, and we don’t see an increase in assist percentage either. Both categories decline which seems to support the notion that you can scheme him out of the game plan to a degree more than his peers.

Both Jokic and Giannis have seen their usage either remain similar or increase in the playoffs while not seeing significant reductions in assist percentage (at least for Jokic this past run). I think those two dudes have more of an ability to either set up their own offense, or not be bothered by double teams in the same way.

He’s a really interesting statistical case.

Somebody's got to reckon with the fact that he shoots more FTs than anybody else despite taking half the proportion of his shots in the restricted area that Giannis does. The only big who gets a guard whistle. Greatest foul merchant in the history of the league. Even > Harden.

That might be a foul but the fact that it wasn't a flopping technical invalidates the entire concept.

Yeah and I probably shouldn’t make light of the threat of possible gun violence, and of course it’s not apples to apples just irritating to see Dray get what looks like 3 weeks for his 80th assault. Looking back wonder if the GS front office shouldn’t have had him charged for knocking out Poole. Then you throw in Miles Bridges not being allowed into Canada and its been a great PR week for the NBA

He also missed a shot at the end of the game where it looked like he was seeking to embellish contact and it never came, love to see it.

Idk how anybody can consume the Ringer content anymore. You might as well just read the Celtics realgm forum.

We're in the 6th consecutive year of the "Boston is a super-team and potential dynasty" era and they have a grand total of one Finals participation trophy to show for it. They're pretenders until they actually prove otherwise.

Gotcha. I’m so used to Bontemps showing up on the Ringer stuff as just another Celtics fan hiding in plain site.
