Carter will enjoy being 2nd option (maybe not 2nd "scoring" option) in the Lakers, and that will be the first time in his career that he isn't the first scoring weapon. He has always been a "pass first" player, he will be a great team players which he always wants to be...
When Kobe goes to bench, Lakers have someone on the court that can handles the ball. (That's what Nets do with VC and 4 benches at 2nd quarters almost every game)
Farmar handles t he ball for the bench and does an exceptional job. I thought about the trade and it just doesn't make sense for the lakers to agree to this. lol at ppl trying to argue that it would make the lakers offense better bkuz a better offense is the last thing they need. They need more shooters period.

Lakers would likely have to take on Kenny Thomas or SAR in an Artest for Odom swap. Petrie will try to move those two guys at every oppurtunity (including in the past for KT). Also not sure the Kings want to deal with the Lakers, and is questionable at best if the Lake Show want to move Lamar in the summer.

Fisher
Kobe
Carter
Gasol
Bynum
If this trade goes down
Haven't read the rest of the thread but my first thought? The last think the Lakers need is a swingman whose only skill is scoring much worse than Kobe does.

That team would not do as well as fans seem to think. Kobe and Carter is Melo and AI all over again. It's a pure fanwank deal that doesn't take into effect how championship teams are built. Loading your perimeter up with volume scorers, particularly ones without big basketball IQs, is not the way to go.
When you have Bynum and Gasol down low, and Kobe up high, you don't ruin the balance of the scoring by throwing VC in there too, the scoring becomes top-heavy, unless VC is willing to only score 10 points a game on like 14 shots. Your scoring should go inside-out, not outside-in.
Someone like shane battier or tay prince would be much better at the 3 for the Lakers.

Now, how will Prince be had away from the Pistons? Especially with the long-term deal he just signed recently.
Or is that just an example of a mold of somebody at the three, but not mentioning Prince with the intention for the Lakers to get him, specifically?

People still don't understand that Prince doesnt get much attention , and he's never double teamed , Carter is a good rebounder, very good passer and very good scorer when he wants to score. It's much harder to defend Carter and Kobe than defending Kobe and Prince .. Prince can't create his own shots like Carter does and Prince's defense is not so much better than Carter's , He's not a lock down defender . He might be a better defender than Carter, indeed! but Carter is better passer, better scorer, better rebounder, harder to defend and gets more attention from the opposite team

If I wanted Carter to play for a great team, This team certainly would not be the Lakers , because the Lakers have an ok team only. The Suns with Carter is way better than the Lakers with Kobe-Gasol-odom and no PG.
