It would depend on why WCS has been out for so long. Based on the Mavs waiving him, I get the impression they don't expect him back anytime soon.

Is that based on a source? I know he is out for personal reasons, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is retiring. Could be a family member is sick, or he is having mental health issues. I know almost nothing about this, so I am actually asking if you know anything specific?

I would be interested in WCS if the Wolves makes some multi-player deals and need to fill roster spots. I wouldn't go for him now. The Wolves need to keep flexibility. Plus, I'm not sure he would play at all with KAT and Reid healthy.

I'm relatively okay with the rumors that Wolves may be holding tight until they know for sure they're out on Simmons...as it seems that they have a cap as to how far they will go for him &/or just don't have enough to facilitate the type of deal anyways.

The next move would be either Grant or Barnes for me with the thought of moving Bev back to the bench instead of Vando.....that gives us that extra length with our starters & let the Bev-effect bleed into our bench as he would be huge for a super young bench.

I really like a Grant/Olynyk trade for Beasley/Prince/Layman/future 1st & 2nd.

Grant 2 yrs younger than Barnes & Olynyk better fitting 2nd piece....Det might value Beasley a little more if nothing else as future asset & they don't have Hield already on roster?

Wolves rotation looks more like:

PG--Dlo/Bev
SG--Ant/Nowell
SF--Grant/McDaniels
PF--V8/Grant
C--KAT/Olynyk

Spotting in: Naz, Okogie, JMac

I find the idea interesting, but would consider adding to it. We throw in Leo, they throw in Bey. The thing about Bey is he has been horrible this year. His defensive numbers are bad, his shooting is way down, and their attempts to turn him into an effective shot creator have failed. From their perspective he had a good season last year and is simply in a sophomore slump, why would they trade a valuable young piece for someone like Leo who has underwhelmed thus far?

Answer, for us he adds adds depth and potentially shooting. We get him back to catch and shoot and use him in our defensive scheme. His long arms and good instincts will help with the long close outs that we are becoming known for. He is in theory a small ball 4 but can could also probably play with MCD. He and MCD are both known as catch and shoot but MCD is better off the dribble and in theory Bey is better at shooting overall (when he is not slumping.)

Why they do it. Leo is younger, has longer on his rookie contract, and has shown multi-positional defensive talent. The Pistons PGs are all mediocre at best, Leo could be given minutes in the hopes of turning him into the two way PG we hoped he would be. Also from what I saw of Bey’s numbers his value is plummeting this year. If he doesn’t turn things around they may not be able to get another offer for a good young player in similar draft position. There numbers with him on the floor are abysmal and he is not developing into the shot creator they want. Leo might be able to fill that role (albeit as a bit smaller player.)

I am not sure either team goes for this, I just thought it would be interesting to discuss. Thoughts?

He is not with DAL team and root cause is undisclosed. I am afraid his head is not there.

It seems odd that the Pacers price Myles Turner and Caris LeVert similarly.

Prince, McLaughlin, SPR for Tre Jones, T.Young

Why for SAS: get SRP
Why for MIN: get one defensive minded forward, get defensive minded PG prospect (local guy)

Depends on protections. I would give 2 top 20 protected firsts for Turner assuming they took Layman and Prince. Let’s us keep Beasley or move him as part of a second deal. I mean odds are we are going to draft 21-22 with Turner. Assuming we keep him and stay healthy the next couple years we should only improve from there. What scares me is Turner demanding out and threatening not to re-sign with us unless we move him next year. I would not give two firsts for a half a season rental.

No, that's just trash. I think Naz, Mcdaniels, and Nowell could fit the description of 'promising' young player.

Based on what? Knight was an in demand two way who will likely end up on someone’s roster, and Leo is a first round draft pick who is known for his defense and has a history in Europe. A slow start with inconsistent minutes doesn’t make him trash. Reid and a first for Turner is only doable for us if we go out and get another big to make up the depth we lose.

This is why we should absolutely target RoCo if POR goes into rebuild, if not pursue himas FA.

Wouldn't Turner more than make up for losing Reid?

There are not going to be a ton of "big minutes" behind Towns, Turner and Vanderbilt.

Starting lineup Dlo, Ant, V8, KAT, Turner
Backup lineup Bev, Nowell, Beasley, MCD, Knight

I personally wouldn’t want Knight playing backup 5 as I don’t think he is ready yet for a rotation spot. Maybe next year, but not yet. MCD at the four is also not optimal as he is better at the 3. So if your 2nd string is Bev, Nowell, MCD, ?, ?, then who do you go out and get to fill the other two spots. I favor trading 2nd round picks for Paul Reed if Philly will give him up (he isn’t a rotation player.) Enes Kanter is another guy I would like to target. Favors and Theis are both overpaid but I would be interested in either one.

The point is Turner can play with V8 because he can hit 3s. If Turner or KAT or both are out for a game we need depth and options.

Would depend on their price tag. I'd love to have him as a player instead of Prince. I question his ability to stay healthy.

I don’t know if I like the Vando, Turner, Towns lineup. I definitely don’t want to put Vando on the bench. Gotta reward that type of improvement and if you don’t I think in a couple years he could walk. I definitely think we have to get one of Grant, Barnes or Roco. All three can play 3 or 4 and bring defense plus floor spacing, when teams take their centers off of KAT.

Then create room for WCS and try to revive his career with familiar teammates he has had success with.
