I guess we should pray for the Gators to win the title, then you know Strong will want to become a Head Coach.

Strong would be F*CKING AMAZING if we picked him up. We'd still need a new offensive coordinator, but this guy would be plucking local guys with ease.

Horray. More years of mediocrity and running on 3rd and 6. What a joke.

Are you actually surprised?

Getting rid of GOL will be difficult, not sure how concrete the statement is, but even if you manage to rid yourselves of him this offseason it'll be difficult.

Why would it be difficult? Cut him a check and send him on his way.

I'm not surprised, because this decision is UCF in a nutshell.

That's exactly why it's difficult though.

You aren't Notre Dame or Tennessee and GOL has a giant contract in a recession and UCF is a public university, I'm not sure how much $$ the AD has to throw around over there. But, getting a guy like Strong, or anyone you'd get excited about, would likely cost about $6-7 million this offseason (buying out GOL and paying for Strong and his staff). That's a lot of money for any program, especially a mid-major.

what's the difference between ucf coaching job and a "bcs" job?

I already replied to this, I believe in the other thread but it appears to be gone.

To be brief BCS members are members of BCS conferences which are: ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Big East, Pac 10, SEC. Conferences like C-USA, MWC, MAC, Sun Belt are not BCS members and their teams are not BCS teams.

The significance of being in a BCS conference is that winners of the conference get an autobid to the BCS bowls (i.e. Orange, Rose, National Championship). Though, some non-BCS teams can get in if they are chosen as an at-large bid (Boise State and Hawaii in recent history).

Basically BCS conferences have better teams and get significantly more funding and better recruits with their clout.

I was looking for you N4U are you going to setup a thread for college basketball?? Like the one for football.
BTW I know this off topic but don't know where to put it thought you might be interested SU's star guard is in really big trouble he hit a another student (female) in the face and it has been recommended that he be suspended for the rest of the year. Yes he gets an appeal, but the odds are against him.

^ You can go ahead and make a thread, I'd be interested in discussing college basketball and I think craig is into it as well. So, in the least we'd have the usual supporters, lol.

n4U I think you are a bit confused with BCS Auto-Bid Conferences and the BCS entirely lol. UCF is eligible to go to a BCS game if we qualify. We just don't go for winning our conference title, where as a Big East Champion would.

I said that you can get in if you're an at-large. There's no autobid for your conference though.

You'd have to be in the top 14 and be selected by a BCS bowl after the autobids were selected. What did I get wrong exactly?

Note: I have since italicized my statement that UCF (or non-BCS teams) can get into a BCS bowl in my previous post.

GOL stays.....WAHOOOOOO.(sic)

Wait for the fallout to begin when season ticket renewals are due in march.

It will be significant given the bad taste of the football team and the economy.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

I won't spend a dime on this project until O'Leary is gone or he turns it around. Season ticket sales are going to tank for sure and UCF has themselves to blame.

N4U... I still think you're wording it wrong.

UCF is in the BCS... We just are not in a Automatic Bid Conference. We are not "non-bcs" as you put it. Chances of us going to a BCS bowl are just a lot less likely

I've seen it used, not just by me, that places like UCF, Boise State, etc are "non-BCS" teams.

I understand it's somewhat of a misnomer, but it gets the point across more succinctly than saying "a school in a non-automatic bid conference for a bcs bowl" does.

The only real signficant difference between USF and UCF is that USF is in a BCS conference.

If you can word it better, feel free and let me know, I'm all open.

I get what you're saying, but its not totally accurate. Teams like BYU and Utah are not BCS auto bid, but they came close to getting into a bcs bowl like Hawaii did (what a pathetic showing).

Anyway, I wish I could have gone to the game yesterday. I had a blast at the previous home game. When is the next one?

December 20th, we host Florida. But i'm not 100% sure it's on campus or if it's at a neutral site. *shrugs* it's listed as a home game though.
