He mention other teams are interested in him, but at this time he would chose a ring and what better than the Heat.

Here comes the ring chasers lol

We need to get Raja Bell (SG) and Matt Barnes (SG/SF - If possible at the vet min) ASAP.

The Lakers wanted Bell, but I believe he wants to come here. Now they may take a look at Barnes. Not only would we be taking players from competition, they are both tough defenders, with the ability to shoot the 3-ball.

If Matt Barnes ends up with another min contract than his agent flat out blows. BUT I hope that's the case because he would be dynamite on this team.

Matt Barnes won't take the Vet. Better just stick with Raja imo

assuming haslem heads to dallas, why not give Barnes UD's offer, which was more than the minimum?

I figured Barnes would be worth more than the vet-min. He's only 30 so he doesn't need to ring-chase yet, and could possibly net himself a nice payday somewhere.

If UD goes elsewhere, I wonder what we spend our money on. Most the Center's on the market aren't very good, and many of them could be had for the vet minimum.

Tony Allen's 3 year/$10M contract was a real steal for Memphis.

If Haslem goes to Dallas, I offer that exact contract to Brad Miller(4yr 20).

You guys should go right after Kurt Thomas. Plays great defense, rebounds, and has a decent mid-range shot. He's got a great attitude and fit in well with you guys.

I think I'm confused. The only 3 yr/20 million offer for UD that's been rumored is from New Jersey, not the Mavs.

Does Barnes really fill a place of need that we need to sign him for more than the minimum? We already got Wade/Bron/Miller rolling through the 2/3 spot, doesn't Barnes become slightly redundant? Surely the money we don't spend on UD (if he leaves) has to go to a steady PG (like Fisher) or a big man that can play the 4 or 5 and support Bosh up front.
Has JO received any reasonable offers? Would he sign here for UD's money he might leave on the table?

I believe JO has signed a 2 year deal with the Celtics already.

Sign me up for the Kwame Brown bandwagon.

JO signed with Boston for the MLE.

I'm surprised there's no real buzz concerning Brad Miller.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Saturday that Miami has had contact with forward Juwan Howard. Other free agents who are known to have expressed interest in Miami include Raja Bell, Chris Quinn, Quentin Richardson and Jamaal Magloire, and the Heat still have the rights to restricted center Joel Anthony.

what about giving Haslem the 4 year/20 mil deal, but with an opt out provision after the first season so he can opt out and then resign with a bigger contract?

Thanks. So it sounds like UD will be leaving quite a chunk of change (proportionally) if he stays here.

Richardson isn't taking the minimum. I can't believe he won't get better offers. He's not what he used to be, but he still drained 3s last year.

Return to Miami Heat
