i like the foundation of this team. Rashard outside shooting and size would be helpful but there is absolutely no way i give up blatche, mcgee, young, seraphin, booker. All i know is that better not pick up paper and find out we traded blatche..since i have heard that magic are really interested in him. I don't even want to trade arenas but Lewis really opens up our offensive play book since our team is full of penetrators.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Didn't take long for this thread to turn to gutter sniping amongst ourselves.

It's beyond hilarious reading the Magic board thread on the situation. It appears that at least 50% of the posters are seriously convicted that the Magic are front runners for a Melo trade and have ammunition to make it happen. Ah well, I guess all of us are delusional to a point, but I find them comical.

Would we have interest in JJ Reddick and would Orlando give him up?

Wall/Hinrich
Young/Reddick

Doesn't seem so bad ad everyone is at their natural position.

A guttersnipe is a street urchin. There is no such thing as "gutter sniping". You just meant sniping. Jerk.

 (Hmm. That emoticon was supposed to be more of a playful, I'm just kidding sort of wink.)

I'll let you guys continue the delirium, I need to attempt to find some metrics for success in a bizarre business plan.....and decide whether to crush someone's dream today. Wish me luck. :D

MrMichaelLee#Wizards are only interested in dealing Gilbert Arenas; They do not want to include other pieces, as source told me: http://wapo.st/fOY1t5

You have to think this would be a huge blow to Gilbert's morale if the trade doesn't go through. Orlando seriously seems like the only team that can get him out of DC.

Considering that the Orlando GM Otis Smith mentioned Gil by name, I would think a deal is more or less done. Otherwise, that would open Smith up to some serious tampering charges I would think.

Getting Reddick would be fantastic and a best-case scenario in my book. However, it doesn't seem feasible now that Shard and Vince are both in discussion.

Orlando doesn't want to part with Redick plus he's a baseline compensation player which makes him very difficult to trade.

Smith Said Trade's Not Imminent

You see Smith say that Gil is a sleeping giant? That line sounds more like he knows something. Like Gil has told him that he's going to hold back and then play way harder when he gets to Orlando. He doesnt want to risk any injuries. He's just crusing right now and thats why he's playing so passive.

The only good thing is that Gil knows now that its not a sure thing and they prefer other guys so that could make him flip the switch and start trying to go off to show Orlando that he still has it. I wouldnt be shocked if we saw a different Gil tonight

Magic general manager Otis Smith told reporters in Orlando this morning that he has spoken with the Wizards about Arenas and said the talks are an "eight out of 10" in terms of aggressiveness. He also said "nothing is imminent," which is something that I was told earlier today by another source.

Smith is close with Arenas and he told the Orlando Sentinel in private conversations that the three-time all-star is a "sleeping giant." Ken Berger of CBSSports is reporting that the Magic is also trying to involve Phoenix to have a reunion with Suns forward Hedo Turkoglu, who helped Orlando reach the NBA Finals in 2009.

"The length of his contract and health probably have been more of my concerns," Smith told reporters in Orlando. "With the length of his contract, you're always concerned about taking on more, of course. That's always been one of my concerns. I know a little bit more detail about Gilbert off the court and who he is as a person. He's probably similar to the guys we have in the locker room right now. I would say that sometimes good people make dumb decisions, and he's one of those guys."

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Magic is looking to make a change to shake up a team that has lost five of its past six games, but noted it would prefer to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets. Two weeks ago, a league source said that the Magic is also interested in Chris Paul.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I like the foundation of the team (assuming a Gil for Shart trade goes through), but I tend to agree that it would be a modest improvement in chemistry.

I have been against the Gil for Shart concept because I felt that Gil would improve to be something better than he was last season; and the difference between a modestly improved 2009 Arenas and the current version of Shart is fairly substantial. Unfortunately, we have seen little evidence that Arenas will improve. So far this season, he has been significantly worse than the 2009 version; and the "rust" excuse doesn't fly. Arenas has been healthy for over a year. Yes, he tweaked an ankle in preseason and missed a handful of regular season games, but that shouldn't have set him back this much.

The bottom line is that I've recently come to accept that Arenas will no longer be a star in a Wizards' uniform. He's really a pretty average player. (Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good, but it ain't happening here.) With that in mind, I'd rather trade him for another average player who is at least a pretty good fit as a jump-shooting SF and who has a shorter contract. Even better would be to trade him for VC and Gortat, but that's probably not happening.

If the Arenas for Shart trade happens, we really need to move one of Thornton or Howard. The best bet would probably be to play Howard for a few weeks to showcase him, and then try to move him to a contender for an expiring plus a 2nd rounder.

Looking more likely that it's Shart to DC. Hopefully the big to replace Gortat is Yi.

Chris_Broussard: Orlando also close to moving rashard Lewis to Washington for Arenas and a big to replace Gortat

Chris_Broussard: Magic & Suns closing in on deal to send Hedo/jRich to Phx for Vince and Gortat. "90 pct" chance of it happening, sources say. Within 24 hrs

Updated

that there is a 90% chance that within 24hrs Orlando will send VC & Gortat to Phx for Turk & Richardson while then sending Lewis to us for Gil and a big to replace Gortat. My guess is probably Hilton Armstrong or someone. No way we take Shard back and also give them McGee, Blatche, Booker, or Seraphin.

It better be Snuggles or Charmin.
