In any case, I REALLY hope we sign Birdman.

It'd be nice to have a center with legit size and rebounding/shotblocking for once. Especially one who isn't completely (Please Use More Appropriate Word) on offense.

Surprised to see that Andersen actually put up better "Per 36" numbers than UD last season.

Andersen:

12.4 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 3.4 BPG, .546 FG, .610 FT

Udonis:

8.7 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 0.3 BPG, .423 FG, .814 FT

Well, according to the topic on the GB, Darko is going to Real Madrid. If that's the case, then the only viable options left are Harrellson, Blatche, and Anderson in terms of centers.

They're not similar at all lmao.

How are they not? Haslem is brought in for his defense, ability to get rebounds, and energy off the bench. Pretty sure those are the exact same roles Birdman played in Denver. I highly doubt they brought him in thinking "Here comes our scorer off the bench." The only thing Anderson does better than Haslem is block shots. But as its been shown with Joel we dont really need the center to do that. We have LeBron/Bosh/Wade who can block shots all day. They just need someone to scrap for balls and help spread the floor which Haslem does much better.

They are both brought in to do the same job, why add another person for Haslem's job when Halsem is doing it better than that guy already.

because birdman is a bigger haslem and we've all stated how we all wish haslem was 2 inches taller

Agreed it'd be amazing if Haslem was a couple inches taller, but Birdmans 2 inch height advantage should make him a better rebounder but it doesnt. Haslem averages more boards than Birdman. The only plus side I see is that Birdman can block shots, but again we have Joel for that and dont really need too much help with that having Bosh/LeBron/Wade.

I'm wondering if UD played hurt last season. I mean I know he always has something going on, but he just didn't look right at all last year, especially his jumper.

Yeah, it didn't seem as if UD completely had his legs back under him last year. Their "Per 36" comparison the last several seasons is pretty much a toss up...

2009-10

Udonis: 12.7 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 0.4 BPG, .494 FG, .762 FT, 17.0 TR%

Andersen: 9.5 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 3.0 BPG, .566 FG, .695 FT, 16.4 TR%

2008-09

Udonis: 11.2 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 0.4 BPG, .518 FG, .753 FT, 14.4 TR%

Andersen: 11.1 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 4.3 BPG, .548 FG, .718 FT, 17.6 TR%

2007-08

Udonis: 11.7 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 0.4 BPG, .467 FG, .810 FT, 14.7 TR%

What's not to like about Birdman's game ? Which better player do you want to fill out the last remaining roster spots ?

Eddy Curry ?
Juwan Howard ?
Mickel Gladness ?
Josh Harellson ?

Andersen is as good of a rebounder as ourt best rebounder and as good of a shot blocker as ourt best shot blocker. Add that he can run the floor, catch the ball and finish pretty well. What else do you want from a back up big, a 3pt shot ? Rasheed Wallace already retired...

I'd take Jorts over Birdman, probably Blatche too. Hope we get two of those three though.

Thank god you're not our GM.

Birdman is the best option available, it's not even close.

at the end of the day it all comes down to this

would you rather have birdman playing limited minutes or juwan howard/eddy curry/pittman and to some extent joel anthony.

at least birdman is somewhat athletic has a good rebounding rate and can block shots and play without fouling

if we can get birdman i think we are done

C- Bosh/Birdman/Joel/Pittman
pf- Battier/Haslem/Howard
sf- Lebron/Lewis/Jones
sg- Wade/Ray/Miller
pg- Chalmers/Cole

I don't see Shane starting at all. It will either be Haslem or Lewis. 82 games would be to much for him.

I've yet to see why everybody is rating Birdman so highly. He's already 34, and hustle big guys tend not to age well. He's coming off arthroscopic surgery. I wouldn't mind Birdman but you're way overrating him.

I really dont, you're overrating Jorts and Blatche, Both of them will never rebound, block shots or be as long as Chris. and that's what we'll need in the next season from our C. If healthy he could really help us.

Jorts is much younger, has potential, is a good rebounder and can actually hit jumpshots. Blatche has potential too, is decently skilled if his head is screwed on right, is a decent rebounder and is actually a scoring threat. Putting Birdman on the floor would just be another offensive non-factor that makes it easier to stop our main playmakers. All he can really do is finish alley oops and get putbacks. There's just too many red flags for me concerning Birdman, his age, lack of skill, coming off surgery, past drug issues. Of course he'd be better than Juwan or Eddy, but that's not saying much.
