Not too excited about this trade either. Trading Butler was the right move but they should have gotten more. Don't know why Wiggins wasn't the centerpiece of the deal. Lavine is coming off an ACL injury so there is no way to know if he will still be the same player. Look at Derrick Rose. And why did they give up #16?

It's very disappointing that such an iconic franchise is run by the the worst possible people ever.

Good for him he's more of a shooter though, but his slashing is part of his game

Good for him on tearing an acl on his best leg?

You're kidding yourself. GarPax have this job for life as long as the Reinsdorf's are still in charge.

Nah, the Bears actually have shown some signs of taking actual gutsy moves to improve and set themselves up for a run. Might not fully pan out, but I'll give them a chance.

The Bulls panic traded their star player, had to throw in an extra draft pick as usual because every single team they deal(other than NYK) with soaks them on every transaction, have no direction for the future other than to draft big euro guys and trade for garbage point guards, and will be stuck on the treadmill for the next decade unless they luck into a player from Iowa State or New Mexico having top ten quality. Nope, I have no faith in the Bulls, their sub-par coach or their bottom of the barrel management team.

The Bears hired a new coach and GM and won 6 games then 3 their first 2 seasons. They traded multiple picks to move up one spot and draft a guy who the could have gotten at their own pick. They stink on offense, stink on defense, stink on special teams. Their top pick likely won't play the entire season. Looking at their schedule they could easily lose their first 9 games and end up with 3 wins again. They could easily end up the worst team in the NFL. Your outlook is likely better than mine.

I put both teams as equally awful when it comes to ownership, front office, and roster.

I liked both trades and will be fading the public. Bears and Bulls will be improved.

Bears trade much better

Nothing will change so long as fans keep coming out, but ratings are down, and I bet attendance is soon to follow.

Most nights of the season you just want to watch a good basketball game where your team has a fair chance to win. And be entertained for 2.5 hours. I'm not thinking about Banner #7 in the middle of some February mid-season game.

That nightly interest is pretty much gone, likely for several years. We are going to lose and lose a ton. And unless you have some young MJ type phenom doing amazing things to help stomach all those losses - and we don't - I find it hard to believe so many people are watching random game #25 of the season and thinking about how close their team is to a title regardless if they win or lose. Or that we somehow now have a 'path to a title' because of how hard we now stink, that make all the drubbings interesting.

They've just turned the nightly product to crap.

Canceled my season tickets a few weeks agoTold them if Hoiberg, Gar and Paxson were gone I'd reconsider. They said "we've been hearing that a lot this summer" the UC is going to be a ghost town

Excellent decision. I hope more people do the same.

I don't mind this trade at all. Yeah, I'll miss Jimmy and probably catch a few Minny games to see him and Thibs but I'm all aboard the tank train. This is realistically a pretty decent package for that.

I think Lavine can develop into a number 2 player on an elite team. At worst he can be a third option on a good team. The injury is worrying but his recovery seems to be going well. I wish he had some more years left on his rookie deal but with us having matching rights when he hits RFA we realistically control his contract for the next 4-5 years.

Dunn was disappointing in his rookie season but does seem to have some talent. Don't know enough to judge Markonen but he seems intriguing.

That's exactly what happened. Bulls traded the #38 pick to Golden State for cash. Typical Reinsdorf move.

Everyone knows Gar is a snake. The guy just lies and lies. He is going to give you a stupid story about "We really valued Jimmy and it was tough to move him....but we really like the players we got in return"

Book it.

He's also a terrible GM that got fleeced again. Can't ever win a trade.

i think this tweet best encapsulates my frustration with the bulls outlook

Read on Twitter

the front office just doesn't seem to know how things are valued in the modern nba. the only way they are capable of building in the draft is by selecting very, very good players at the top. and while that's not a bad way to put together a good team, it also means we're relying mostly on luck to deliver us the right player at the right time, which lengthens the likely timeline of a rebuild.

nobody here is thinking "ah, garpax will manouver us out of this hole in no time." they're thinking "god i hope we get michael porter jr. and he's a stud." we could have draftexpress.com as our gm and things wouldn't be materially different

Seriously. If they thought it was a possibility they would sell their 2nd round pick they should've countered not including 16 and but 38 wait for them cave.

It's gonna be like the good old days.

Minnesota's gonna be beating the Bulls by 50 points every time they meet.

Jimmy and Thibs are gonna f***ing serve GarPax a big-ass "L" every time. It's a shame it'll only be twice a year. Perhaps that was GarPax's reasoning.

What more could they get? Suns wouldn't give up #4 after they learned they'd get Jackson. Nuggets wouldn't part with Murray. Boston declined #3 or any 2018 pick. All per K.C.

Maybe, just maybe, the market for Butler wasn't that good.

Only thing I'm irritated by is giving up #16 too but if that's what it took to get a deal done, so be it.

More pissed about Bell being traded for cash than anything though.

Another huge gripe I have with this trade is that the Bulls got back one-sided players and then drafted one-sided players by trading the ONLY two-sided player they have!

I wish they would get players that just weren't complete nothings on one side of the court.

The only player in the draft that played defense the Bulls traded for cash. Most of the NBA doesn't play good D. Lets not try to make this out to be a Bulls issue.

I feel for y'all. How many "bad" Boston trades did you turn down that were probably better than this? I mean damn, you should've squeezed their arm for some future picks too.

So the Bulls replaced Thibs because Thibs was holding the team back and now it's a complete rebuild. It makes me sad that Thibs didn't have the chance to have a Sloan type run in Chicago. Now we trade Jimmy for 3 question marks. Ugh! Who on the current roster will play defense?

Golden State won a championship with a cabinet full of two-way players. Maybe the rest of the league is doing it wrong.
