Terrible.
Has the ring of a XFL team, or one of the franchises in Any Given Sunday.
I didn't really expect any different from Snyder's braintrust.
Just awful execution all around.
The type face, logos, color shemes, just awful.

It is a boring name, but at least it isn't actively stupid, like "Wizards"
Yet here we are, with Wizards being lightyears better than this terrible name.

I still think this is the way they will go.
I also think it will be universally booed. And it is hilarious that the nickname will surely be the Commies.
Go Commando. The Washington Commedians. The Oxford Commas. Hail to the Commies. It'll be great.
Yup.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
My thoughts I posted up on the NFL Forum:
They dropped the ball hard on this one.
It should of been the Red Hogs without any doubt. Keeps the Red part of the name and pays homage to the Hogettes who have done great things in the community and are a staple of the (at the time) Redskin franchise. Also the logo could of been the cursive R we are use to with an H coming off the curl of the R. Simple, makes sense, is a fun unique name, but no, Dan had to go with something I would of found as a default name in Madden 2002 in “create a team” mode.

I'd definitely prefer your suggestion over the Commies, but I thought the winner should have been the Ground Hogs. If there were legal issues with the name, let the lawyers figure it out.

Honestly, it could be way, way, worse.
Anyone remember what the Wizards were almost called? The Washington Sea Dogs or something like that

I knew as soon as they hired that soulless McKinzie zombie (Jason Wright), the team would stay in shambles from a PR standpoint. McKinsie's main goal as a company is take corporate dirt, put it in a vase, and put a plastic faux flowerbed on top of it.
Some random troll wrote:Not to sound negative, but this team is owned by an arrogant cheapskate, managed by a moron and coached by an idiot. Recipe for disaster.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
This idea that Jason Wright talked about, and Theismann echoed — of representing all the people of the DMV.
No.
A name doesn’t need to do that.
Does Rams do that? Lakers? Cardinals? Jazz? MFing Jazz? In Utah?
That’s the way PR firms “think.” The way corporations try to spin.
Such utter horseshxt.
PR firms, corporations, “creative” agencies, people who call others “creatives,” people who sling shxt for a living, people whose job it is to pitch, to hype, people who sell and are always and forever selling you … all of them, complete and utter horseshxt.
That’s how you get Commanders.
By having these people involved. By assembling task forces, and thinking that they’re necessary.
Commanders is a safe pick. That everyone can sorta kinda live with. Risks nothing, but isn’t horrible.
It’s the franchise in essence under Dan Snyder.
And this 18 month “process.”
It’s like trying to get credit for how long it took you to do your homework when all that matters is the grade.
Choosing a name takes about 3 days.
Choosing a logo, maybe two-three weeks. Maybe a month.
Uni design, maybe a month. Maybe two.
That’s it.
One last point …
They think they’ve chosen something anodyne, that won’t offend anyone.
Well, wrong.
It’s a militaristic name. It conjures images of conquerors. Or at least generals. Men who warred. Who war. Who think war is fine. Who think war is good.
The name is going to be a constant invocation of “our heroes,” who we are told constantly we must “support,” though the entity that needs to support them, the Pentagon, so often turns its back when they come back broken.
Nope, nothing I want to honor, much less cheer for.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.
