It does appear Portland is going to sleep through another trade deadline.

Perhaps if they were over the first apron, there would be a move but they are sitting on a surplus of bigs
and don't seem interested in moving one unless the other team overpays.

I felt best case scenario was for us to try and steal Dalton Knecht/Reaves or some other stud in the right deal, but sometimes sitting idle has its perks too. We didn’t make any bad deals, we didn’t need to make any deals.

Team currently looks like it could make the playoffs, that’s an exchange. Whether or not you’re happy about that reality, it is reality.

We seem to have made our commitment, and I respect Joe if that’s what’s on the menu. We have an amazing amount of depth right now, and not a lot of teams can say that.

I'm not so sure we make the pos, the West looks really good this year top to bottom and it feels a lot more likely we fall just short

For sure, I’m def not planning on it. Just saying “currently” they def look like they can sneak in.

Stupid on an epic level, now I fear we are stuck with him for the remainder of his contract. :banghead:

Absolutely couldn't agree more.

Team has to finish 19-12 to just reach .500 and most of the team's ahead of them made moves
to get hopefully better.

I do wonder if these guys like Ayton will once again lose interest if he's still on the team after the
trade deadline.

Much more likely the team will finish out of the play in with around 36 wins

Nothing better than keeping the vets, missing the play in and hitting that sweet sweet 10-12th pick in the draft.

wut?

3 weeks ago the Blazers were 5 games out of 10th seed, Since then, the Blazers have won 9 of 10 games in an unsustainable stretch of perfect storm opponents. And the result is the Blazers have crawled from 5 games out of 10th seed to 3.5 games out, and they don't own the tiebreaker over any team ahead of them

in other words, after winning 9 of 10 over the easiest stretch of their schedule with 7 out of those 10 games at home, they only picked up 1.5 games on the 10th seed. And their schedule in March/April is pretty brutal. From here on out they have the 7th hardest remaining strength of schedule in the league

10th seed is the play-in; it's not the playoffs. If they actually made it to 10th seed they'd have to win 2 games on the road in the play-in to actually make the playoffs

I'm not saying that's impossible but it's highly improbable. And basing projections and planning on what is highly improbable is ill-advised

Curious what completed other moves yet means? They were a team that was rumored to show interest in Simons though. Not that I have much optimism left that Cronin would trade him (or anyone for that matter).

EDIT - This might have more to do with the completion of KJ Martin acquisition & Richardson\Waters acquisitions.

Why give up a FRP to dump a player with a short-term contract? Just waive him and eat the salary for a year.

Interesting development. With NO holding onto CJ, does that make teams like DET\ORL more likely to pivot to POR\Simons? With all of the major moves by playoff teams, are either ORL or DET going to try and keep pace, or just roll with their young core. Same could be said for HOU.

I think what is becoming clear, regarding POR is that Cronin has either no desire or is way out out of line on the value of his players (particularly Ant\Grant\Ayton), maybe both? You can't really watch how this deadline has played out and then try and justify POR lack of inaction as anything positive.

May just be trolling, but another forum is alluding to a POR deal, and it may not be in the direction many people think...

No idea, and like I said, probably just trolling, but my take was more a try and win now move than a rebuilding move...

I don't even know what teams\players it would be, PHX insider stated they are staying put, same was said about NO. What teams does that realistically leave?

PHI for George?
BRK for Cam Johnson?
ATL for Trae?
MIN for Randle?

Not to mention that IF POR did do something like this, it would go against everything that Cronin has said to this point, not that he isn't capable of talking out both sides of his mouth, he is quite adept at that, but it would be a 1180% pivot from what he has been saying...

Could be a good trade for LAC, I like Bogdanovic, they get (3) 2nd's with him as well.
