majority of the text I'm reading isn't all that relevant. But here we are.
I'll circle it back around then. Bam to me isn't an anchor but his superpower and value comes from his portability. Not sure if you read the PC board a lot but ElGee (prominent poster there who started the thinking basketball website and does youtube videos now) championed it a lot back then, think Doctor MJ had a lot of great posts on the subject as well.
An anchor (defensive or offensive) to me is a guy you drop on a team and they all get better and you build around him. They give you 50 wins as a floor. I don't think Bam's quite at that level. But he's like a 9 or a 10 on the portability scale, he can fit on almost any squad in the NBA. There's a ton of value in that.
Weird anchor definition to me. It suggests there are no more than 10 players in the NBA that can be considered an anchor--and that's assuming that all the 50+ win teams are driven by one star player rather than a collection. And it infers that these "anchors" should always or almost always have 50+ win seasons. If you control for all those parameters, I'd bet that the number of players that fit that definition in the NBA is 5 or less. So, I'm 1000% with you in contending that Bam is not a top 5 player in the NBA. I don't think anyone ever posited otherwise.
And it's pretty distinct from a discussion of a "defensive anchor" imo. It basically suggests that a "defensive anchor" as a concept doesn't exist. Then we just get into weird semantics.

Come on Beenie, you can’t base the majority of your take here on Giannis being injured and then your next suggestion be adding Kawhi over him lol (I’d be happy with either but easily Giannis>>>Kawhi)
