Is TKF in a coma or something? I can't believe he hasn't popped in once to comment on this.

I'm going to assume you were once a big time Isiah lover (probably still are) and loved the following players:

Eddy Curry
Zach Randolph
Jamal Crawford
Stephon Marbury
Nate Robinson
Steve Francis
Etc.

Those guys have nothing to do with Chandler but from your post history you seem like someone who just throws things out there with nothing to back it up.

Replacing 5 and 5 guys with Chandler made a huge difference on that team. They became a top 10 defensive team and won the championship.

Defense wins championships. And with Amare we need a legit defensive presence next to him. There's no other way around it.

Again, every championship team had all-NBA defensive players at PF and/or C in recent years. Except the Lakers. But they had Gasol/Bynim/Odom who can control the boards and they still dominated the paint.

The paint and interior D is the most CRUCIAL part of playoff basketball. You are not going to win with no presence there.

Dallas was already a great team before Chandler got there. We're barely a playoff team.

About 3 weeks ago I talked to Tyson Chandler outside the SNY studio on 51st. I asked him about Eddy, he asked about Knicks. Makes sense now

I think we'd be better than we were last year even without this move though. I wouldn't base this team's potential on our W-L record at the end of last year.

Apparently Grant Hill is choosing between the Suns and Spurs now.

I'll just embrace the fact we have a true big man that changed a franchise in 1 year with defensive leadership.

If you guys want to complain about it and hope for the worst instead of seeing we are going to be a championship contender THIS YEAR then so be it.

Hate to sound arrogant but if Chandler, Amare and Melo is our frontcourt the chances are he won't even play alot because for the first 4 weeks of the season, we'll be blowing out teams left and right.

Look at the STATS!!! Tyson Chandler was in the running for DPOY and he was a big part of the Mavs D and a even bigger reason they won besides Dirk. So before you come at people watch some basketball. I bet you wanted CP3 didnt you? The kNicks have been wanting a real Defensive Minded Center for like 10 years. Get out of my face ....

Iman Shumpert wrote:If we sign Chandler....SMH.

This is just like when Chicago signed Ben Wallace. They thought Deng/Hinrich/Gordon was a contender so they didn't mind paying that much for a specialist like Big Ben.

Did you just compare Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony to Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon?

SMFH...

If you took those three at the absolute peak of their value and tried to trade them for STAT and Melo at their absolute lowest value, you'd get laughed out of the building and then fired by your own team for wasting company time on idiotic trade proposals.

Not even close to being analogous situations.

ahh I guess you're right  but I still think Josh Smith next to Amare would be better..

We're overpaying, but people are being too dismissive of Chandler as a player. He's an elite defensive player and good rebounder. He directly addresses our biggest needs. Some optimism about how this team will do with him is warranted.
