I'm sure Mainz will be fine. Tuchel is a great coach and he seems to be a great guy, too. I heard he's a Phil Jackson fan

yeah that's what i'd be worrying about. you qualify for europe and then have to play qualification games with new players before the BL season has even started. just like in 2011 when you went out against a no-name team from the east.

i kind of admire tuchel. he's been such a great constant for five years now. really wonder if the likes of tuchel or streich ever consider "taking the next step" in their personal careers. tuchel could easily be the next schalke or leverkusen manager, play champions league and make tons of money.

A lot of great goals that weekend.

Lewandowski:

Volland:

Drmic:

Also the Campaña goal and some others. Drmic's one is awesome, the guy will be hunted this coming summer with Nürnberg maybe relegated and clubs like Dortmund, Arsenal and Leverkusen interested.

And with leverkusen's loss Gladbach move two points out of 4th place and the revived dream lives on! CL would be so huge for them. Sign Hahn to the grow list of recruits, snap up the Shaq loan, and then make my dream happen with Schär or Ginter. All they'd need would be an upgrade on Mlapa like Seferovic and the team would be well set establish themselves as CL regulars.

I dunno what is more embarassing, Leverkusen losing the fifth time this month at home (Hoffenheim), or Lewis Holtby caught cheating on his GF by posting pix of his d*** to his new flame

BTW; ever since Kießling "scored" THAT "goal" vs Hoffenheim, Leverkusen has achieved a meagre 7W/1D/9L in the BL. The soccer gods are really giving Bayer the treatment.

they went 2-1-8 in their last 11 games, not even including their home loss vs lautern. it's an absolute disaster and i think no one really has explanation for it. they beat dortmund - at dortmund - and then boom, complete collapse.
all i can say is that hyypiä seems pretty clueless as to how to manage this situation. you can see this "i have no idea what i'm doing here"-look in his eyes. he's one of those plan-a managers. when plan a doesn't work they're useless.

Well, it's a pretty strange season for us so far.

First we were alternating wins and losses at the start of the season, then we won eight straight and then we couldn't win for nine straight games. After winning two in a row we're again in the hunt for european football and maybe even the CL qualification spot.

I would really like to make it to europe for the 2nd time in three years and there's a good chance given that even the 7th place should be enough, if there's a Bayern vs Dortmund cup final.

Still, I'm cautious given our bad start to the 2nd half of the season and that even the win against Hertha wasn't all that convincing.

BTW: Shaqiri's not coming to Gladbach and I'm interested to see if either Ginter or Shär will make their way to Borussia Park.
You're also right about us needing an upgrade behind Kruse/Raffael and we'll also need some more help on the wings given that we've got next to no dept there and with Arango most likely leaving for Mexico.

Also, other names being mentioned for us are Blerim Dzemaili(Swiss international central/creative midfielder), Admir Mehmedi(striker/Freiburg), Ibrahima Traoré(winger Stuttgart and already said to have signed with us), Aaron Hunt(midfield/Bremen), Yassine Chickhaoui(offensive midfielder/Zurich), Sebastian Larsson(midfield/Sunderland) Valentin Stocker(winger/Basel) and Andre Hahn(winger/Augsburg).

6 minutes in BVB look like they're going to Bayern/Real Schalke. Hilariously bad defending from the men blue's back ups.

God what an awful lineup Tuchel put out today. Losing 3-1 in Braunschweig because he started the whole reserve midfield. On top of it he subs out the best of them, Zimling, shortly after halftime. And leaves Koch and Soto who couldn't complete a simple pass over 3meters on the pitch.

I can't help but think we intentionally lost this one to get out of the EL race.

Wohoooo

Edit: Philipp Lahm 134 passes and a 100% quote. What a player.

Schalke's injured players: Höwedes, Santana, Papadopoulos, Aogo, Fuchs, Uchida, Kirchhoff, Höger, Clemens, Farfan.

Schalke's players 22 or below who were in the starting formation: Ayhan (19), Matip (22), Kolasinac (20), Goretzka (19), Meyer (18), Draxler (20).

Wouldn't make me wonder to much if Schalke will be at the same level or the better team within the next 1-3 years, if they are able to keep that team together.

Even more important than keeping it all together is replacing Keller with someone who's more than just kinda competent much of the time. That future midfield of Meyer, Goretzka and Ayhan will be awesome, especiallly as LeGo and Ayhan (don't have a good nickname for him yet) learn to play defense at a high level to go with their high end ball skills and vision.

And I've grown quite impressed with Matip, he still screws up defensively and can't overcome keller's incompetence by rallying the D himself yet, but he's been very smooth and reliable on the ball for them and put in a good campaign while everyone around him got hurt. He and Howedes aren't great, but you can work with that if they find someone good for the flank opposite Kola.

I do think Keller isn't the worst choice for the moment. The team was clearly build for the future and not to contend for the title. And it looks like Keller is developing the players quite well. So I wouldn't mind if they would give him one more season and decide than. This team will also need at least one more season to grow.

Talking about grown teams:

93,1% passing percentage, isn't that some kind of record? ;)

Anyway:

Congrats to Bayern, they deserve it. Hertha didn't have a chance

I'll be rooting for Freiburg tonight. I want to see Hamburg fail so bad and I love that Freiburg team.

Big winner of this gameday: obviously Bayern.

Unsung winner of this gameday: Hoffenheim. They get a clutch win, are 99% sure not to relegate, and their invaluable attacker R. Firmino has signed a new contract until 2017. They will probably lose Volland (BVB? Wolfsburg? Bayer?), but will also get a lot of cash for it. If you like it or not, they have established themselves in the BL.
