I sort of read that as misdirection by their agent and Miami. Let people think they are still working to lock up Bosh and Wade so other teams think there is still a chance and to wait while Miami look to grab other FA's. Perhaps I'm crazy.

A couple people posted it a few pages back. It may not mean anything but I'll take the small victories :)

Thank you. Just got in from cool San Diego back to hot as s**t Phoenix and had to scroll quickly through several pages on this thread. I think Suns still have an outside shot at getting James. The waiting game is hard to play though. :D

I don't know the details or what was talked about. But there IS a chance. I'll bring more detail as I get them. However, the Suns FO are very quiet and Are keeping everything close lid as they should.

Let me be clear!. I'm not reporting that we're going to sign Lebron. But we do have a punchers chance.

Here's something I'd like some clarification on, would Lebron only consider signing here in order to pair up with Melo? As another poster suggested earlier, I have yet to see anything linking us to Melo other than the WojBomb which seems more like a piece based around convenience.

I'm curious because with Melo's meeting in Chi-Town reportedly going well, I'm doubting our chances to land Melo.

You don't have to. It is a done deal if Lebron comes and everyone including Melo knows this. Melo is choosing his team based on Lebron staying, but if Lebron comes and he wants Melo....please...

I think what was reported was LBJ could come here along with a "free agent of his choice". Conjecture that the choice would be Melo based on a previously stated desire to play together, but also because it makes a better headline/click bait.

So here is a question. Say by some crazy Chance lebron does come. How do we handle next year? 1) The Morris brothers are going to want to get paid. 2) goran will be a free agent.

How do u handle that scenario?

I think that pairing with Melo was just to entice Lebron. I think if Lebron was serious, we might have a deal in place with the Wolves to get Love, without giving up Dragic or Bledsoe, but we aren't just gonna get Love without affirming his desire to stay here, and that won't happen until we get Lebron.
We'd probably be giving up Len/Warren/Morris bros, but we'd still have a solid core of Dragic/Bledsoe/Lebron/Love/Plumlee and a bench of Ennis/Goodwin/Green. Keep Frye, get Ray Allen on the Lebron train, Jermaine O'Neal come back to town.
Just exploring... though I'd rather just sign two top tier free agents than make any trades, but that would be Lebron's decision, lol.

I think it could be misdirection, but more so from the standpoint that if LBJ doesn't re-up with Miami, the agent doesnt want teams thinking that is Wade or Bosh's starting number. If they agree to less money with Miami, and the Big 3 is broken up, their market price will be considerably lower.

Best case in my eye is Lowry goes to Houston and Toronto starts courting Bosh hard. Makes it less likely LeBron returns to Miami. The more I hear the more I have to believe that if it's not Miami for LeBron, it has to be Phoenix. He's waiting to re-sign to see what moves the Heat make to be competitive long term, whereas Phoenix has a ready made supporting cast and money to spend on a FA of his choice. The ONLY other option that even makes remote sense is Dallas, but they seem to be focused on Melo as opposed to LeBron.

So you think that Lebron might just have opted out to leave Miami? What then of Bosh and Wade who he just **** over by them opting out of max money? You think Lebron would stand being despised by his friends. If Lebron leaves, Wade's not going to get signed for Max $. Maybe Bosh can get that money but he'll be playing for losing team. Although, I'd take him for our starting PF.

There's just no way I can see it happening. You might be right that Lebron could have us as a fallback plan but he's not going to go through with it.

If Lebron leaves they'll sign Lowry, Ariza and Pau and still be good. It's the east after all...

Easy. You surpass the cap by re-signing your own players. Sarver already said that he's willing to spend money.

What's crazy is all this stuff is being passed back and forth between lebron and his agent. Just imagine the texts going back and forth.

Marcus will probably get at most 4-6 while Kieff will get 6-10. It's going to come down to how much Sarver is willing to go over the cap.
At worst, both would be restricted so we can sign and trade either if needed.

It depends on what our 2nd move is. If the move is to trade for Love, then the Morrii become a non-issue. If the move is to sign a Melo, Bosh, or Pau then it becomes a little more interesting, however if we do sign one of those guys, we probably dont resign the Morrii. I think Sarver is fine paying Dragic as long as the Suns dont go into luxury tax zone (which we shouldn't).

And with Lebron in town, you absolutely go over the cap and re-sign these guys. Lebron is going to make Sarver so much money even if we are slightly in the luxury tax. Tickets prices will sore, and they will always be sold out to the retired community of Scottsdale.

@ESPNSteinLine: RT @WindhorstESPN: 24 HRS into free agency, LeBron has been quiet. Teams hoping to engage mostly unable. No doors closed but teams moving on

At first blush, you'd keep Goran and let the MoBros go. The only real barrier is the luxury tax, and we'd still be under (or not far over) even with Goran re-signing.

But at second blush, while we could afford to re-sign Goran, my guess is we may not, because the following year, we'd need to re-sign Plumlee, and he may be the more precious commodity. We have much more reason to believe in Archie's progress than in Alex's. Archie will on the rookie contract for two more years following this one.

Then again, this may all be moot. If we're really throwing the kitchen sink at Lebron, we're probably telling him he'll have discretion over our roster. Which means if he wants Dragic back, he won't give a **** about the luxury tax. I know I'd be happy spending every last dollar and winning the next 3 championships.

Knowing how much money LeBron would bring in, I think we can get away with being over the cap by 10-15mil. Every game would sell out and the merch sales would be through the roof. We'd still turn a profit AND some.
Not to mention what a potential deep playoff run or ***gasp*** a championship would do for the franchise...

If we could give up Lakers pick, our own pick, and somehow sell them on getting their own pick back instead of giving up Len, I would do that trade 9 times out of 10.

Solid logic, right through the end.

Looks like James has a little concern for his teammates... Or is it little concern? ... I am confused

That's my offer as well.

... but if Lebron's on the way, I'd even consider adding Dragic for Martin (retaining the picks if I could). I know, I know. But LeBron and Love in the same front court? Da-yum. That would be all-time nasty.
