Who have we talked about with the Mavs pick? Let's say 20.

If the pick is around that #20 slot, gimme Corey Kispert. Joe Harris is the comp. Professional shooter, can attack hard close-outs, strong base with a low center of gravity so will not be pushed around or knocked off route when running defenders through screens, can run the floor and finish adequately. On defense he can contribute within a team concept.

I love this kid as a prospect and he fits the Knicks core the best of any player in the draft. But don't expect a durable guy with his reckless playing style full of hard falls and seeking out contact. As long as you are good with a shorter shelf life than Cade, he is the ideal fit pick to be the engine to kickstart the Knicks. NYC would love his combination of toughness, skill, and tenacity.

Re: 2020-2021 College/Draft thread 1
Here's an option for one of our two 2nd round picks.
Sandro Mamukelashvili, 6'11" PF/C.
Can handle the rock as a point center, can pass the ball, can shoot the three, can attack off the dribble drive, and is ambidextrous.
Not a rim protector, not a big rebounder, and not a strong defender. That and his age, being a college senior is why he would be available in the 2nd round.
But he is having a strong year thus far for Seton Hall and he is another New Yorker.

Nice. I was hoping the Knicks would take that Gonzaga kid - the big, with one of their picks, for same reasons you list. I'll have to check where he went again.

Can pass it like Jokic but can score off the dribble like Lauri

Wow; the Gonzanga kid wasn't even drafted and Knicks didn't sign as UDFA. A little bit dumbasses, they are.

So, I forgot who picked him up, so I googled it. Before I hit enter to check the results I said to myself "I bet it's a smart team that knows how to rebuild"
Yup. Memphis picked him up.
Meanwhile, Knicks need a roster slot for MKG.

Watching Daishen Nix play basketball makes me sleepy. One of the most boring highly regarded prospects I've seen in some time.

Epitome of safe pick there. That kid is gonna translate at least to role player. The Zags are stacked, innit?
I started looking at some of the Euro prospects that some sites have mocked in that range last night. Did not like.

Safe but transformative. In a vacuum he has a high floor and maybe not a high ceiling. But the fact is, within the concept of team building, a pick like Kispert will further unlock the potential in RJ, Obi, and Mitch by giving them more room to operate by spacing the floor with high level shooting. We need a sniper on the wing bad.
Our pick: Jalen Suggs
Mavs pick: Corey Kispert
Pistons 2nd: Scottie Lewis
Hornets 2nd: Sandro Mamukelashvili

I know it's early but this draft doesn't look as stacked as it was hyped up to be especially outside of the top 10

Oh, I didn't mean it as a pejorative. He's absolutely a good pick for what we're doing. Past maybe pick 15 depending on the draft I like going for doubles unless there's a true home run option (Mitch, THT). I was looking at guys like Badji, Sengun, and Garuba last night and there were obvious mile wide holes to fill. I'll take the double, thanks.
The above would be a great draft. I can't imagine Lewis doesn't rise. But I'd also figure we'll consolidate somewhat with our later capital.

A guy I'm curious about is Ron Harper the Younger. His pops could PLAY though he looks more like a sniper type.

I have such a hard time seeing Lewis not getting into the 1st round. A wing with his athleticism, defensive game and burgeoning shot? Hell I'm not sure why he isn't in the late teens for most people. He's still got plenty of work to do, but he already looks like a useful rotational piece with the potential to become a highend complementary starter.
