I’m as excited to see JB “have his own team” for the first time in his career as I am to watch Joe craft an offense that’s non-reliant on Tatum as the primary.

What are the odds Jaylen gets some off season surgery and misses a good portion of the season and proper bottom out instead

The C's (and Brown) are doing nothing to improve their credibility re: injuries: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2025/05/17/jaylen-brown-knee-injury-meniscus-tear-report/?p1=hp_primary

Makes you wonder what's really up with Porzi.

I think surgery is minor if he needs it. Might miss a bit of time but not much. I hope he get surgery though and/ or takes the required rest/ rehab.

I think too with the meniscus news, they're not going to trade him because they aren't going to get any real value for him. Would more likely be KP/Jrue/Hauser/(long sigh) Derrick White

via Jeff Stotts, resident NBA injuries expert:
More NBA injury news: According to @ramonashelburne Jaylen Brown played through a partial meniscus tear. Hard to pinpoint exactly when it occurred.

The first signs of a knee issue surfaced in February when he missed time w/ knee swelling. He missed 12 total games from that point forward w/ what was described as pain or impingement.

For those looking for more insight into Jaylen Brown's meniscus injury, I have previously discussed meniscus tears in the NBA here:

JB gets a lot of crap and I get it, he does a lot to earn that. But Stevens just confirmed he had this meniscus tear for a while and still plays through it. There’s plenty of players who shut down their seasons for that. Porzingis did that during the playoffs with Dallas.

JB is good in my book.

An incredible display of toughness, determination and willingness to sacrifice for the team in an effort to repeat. Played damn well for a guy with torn meniscus.

There's a sizable chance that the Celtics and Brown will delay surgery but then ultimately get it, which in turn could cause him to miss time next season. This might be a favorable outcome, as it will improve next year's draft pick.

From the article:

Jaylen Brown is still considering offseason knee surgery
One of Brown’s top offseason priorities is getting healthy — he finished the season with a partially torn meniscus in his right knee, battling through pain for the second half of the year.

When Brad Stevens spoke to reporters on Monday, he expressed optimism about Brown’s prognosis.

“The knee is in a good place, structurally,” Stevens said. “So I think he felt comfortable getting out there and going after it, and, hopefully, he’ll feel better after being off of it for a couple of weeks here.”

On Saturday, Brown told CelticsBlog that surgery to repair that torn meniscus remains on the table.

“l got a lot of doctors I gotta get evaluated with — see the potential for surgery versus no surgery, wait to speak to the [Celtics] organization,” he said. “For now, it’s just rest and recovery. I’m taking a step back from a long season. Mentally, it was a lot of stuff going on.”

I think that he should do it, right now. I mean, what are you waiting for?
Tatum is OUT. So Brown should do what he needs to be ready, when Tatum gets back. As should everyone else.

With partial tears, a lot of time players don't get surgery. It's ideal that you don't, so you don't have to remove any of the meniscus in his knee.

They'll probably wait a few weeks and see how it is, then decide

Yeah, the time is what I'm wondering about. I mean, he supposedly got it torn in February?
If it can heal on its own, then do that. Take time off at the beginning of the Season.

Of course, I doubt that Jaylen takes the time off. As he could have done that, already.
IDK. We'll see.

Amid whispers on potential trades, star Celtics forward Jaylen Brown says 'Boston is home'

There has been no shortage of speculation regarding what might happen with star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown now that he is dealing with a partially torn meniscus at the same time costar on the wing Jayson Tatum is dealing with a torn Achilles tendon while Boston's payroll and tax bill balloon to potentially historic levels.

But when the Georgia native took a moment to talk with the folks behind the "NBC Boston 10" YouTube channel at a popup event for his 741 Performance gear on Canal street this weekend, Brown told NBC reporter Malcolm Johnson that "Boston is home."

"I've been here for ten years of my life," he added. "Even though sometimes online or in the media, (there's) a lot of noise, once you get out in the community, it's a lot of it's a lot of love and genuine connections."

Yeah. Surgery is for when you're in a hurry to get back.

I'm pretty torn on the Jaylen Brown front. On one hand I'm excited to see how he does as the #1 option for the first time in his career. He's proven that he's an All-NBA caliber player. He's in his prime. With more shots and the ball in his hands more often he should put up better stats. If he can keep the team afloat and in the upper half of the east playoff standings, then his trade value will skyrocket. For anyone in the "trade JB" camp, the trade deadline or next summer may be the better time to do so.
Now, on the flip side. What if he's just not cut out to be "the guy". He's a turnover machine. Team isn't winning like they want to be winning. JB's shooting splits suffer. Then Boston is stuck with that contract long-term and a player with diminishing value.

My guess is he will be good, and value will hold steady. We shall see.
