On The Jacque hire... he is a smart guy thats been part of some impressive situations. He was coached as a player by Jerry Sloan, Doc Rivers and Gregg Popovich. He's been an assistant coach with the Spurs for the last two years. So he has the credentials and resume of a good young coach. He's not that far removed from playing and he had a decent 12 year career in the NBA - who fills out his staff will go a long way towards establishing how good this will be in Year 1.

The biggest thing to understand is that Orlando is no longer doing things in a singular way - this is about building our a system and culture. That starts with Hennigan and his staff and continues in Jacque and his staff, which will continue into how the locker room is run and the players that are brought in.

Hennigan said that he, Vaughn and assistant GM Scott Perry have already discussed the style of play that the Magic will have in the coming years. Much of it will depend on the personnel, namely center Dwight Howard. The six-time all-star has repeatedly requested a trade, something he reaffirmed to Hennigan last week during a meeting. But the Magic have been cautious in trading Howard because they have yet to find a deal that is most beneficial to the organization.

``We met with Dwight and his representation on Wednesday and we continue to exchange information with each other,’’ Hennigan said. ``As I’ve stated all along we’re going to keep the specifics of our dialogue private. But our plan is to stick with the process and continue to work through it and evaluate the situation.’’

The hiring of Vaughn should indicate more the direction the Magic is heading. Both Hennigan and Vaughn come from similar style of systems in OKC and the Spurs. Both of them teams are very close in styles of play, one is just much younger then the other.

Both teams top 3 players were drafted and home grown

Both teams are at top of league in scoring

Both teams were built around prolific scorers: OKC- SF Durant, Spurs PF/C Duncan (well was in his prime)

Both teams have SG's that come off bench and can light you up with similar style of play: OKC Harden, Spurs Ginobili

Both teams have scoring mentality bigger pg's or what you may call combo guard: OKC Westbrook, Spurs Parker

I could be wrong but I can really see the magic being built in a similar manner.

Not sure what to make of vaughn as coach but I will give him the benefit of the doubt for at least 2 seasons. Lets hope his first order of being coach is benching duhon forever.

I like the direction rob is taking the team. He is doing things that in the end will make this team a very admirable, winning, and talked about franchises. Its only a matter of time the magic go from league's whipping boy to perennial contenders.

The Key to Vaughns and Henny's tenure unless somehow Howard stays will come with the next couple drafts, no matter what coach you hire they must find that player to build around, the new centerpiece, with a rebuild it gives a few seasons to grow into an experienced coach.

Well me and Nyce_1 said yesterday, guess 24 hours later isn't that bad!

Anyhow, cool. Now this guy can select his coaching staff. It'd be crazy if he chooses malone or shaw to be his assistants. I have to say one thing, I credit the Van Gundy coaching staff when we had them. They really did a lot for this team most don't know about.
