jesus this is ridiculous. jr and melo made some dumb comments, but it's really not a big deal; anyone remember lin's "85%" comment? the media jumps all over stuff like this and nyk fans lap it up. i doubt there's any real locker room issues with lin; this is all so tangential. and i thought the debates over all that "disloyalty" "selfishness" bs were dumb.

Re: Felton traded to Knicks; Not matching Lin? (part 3)
Knicks are going to match.
Think about this. Knicks only had Kidd (clear back up and 39 yr for 3 year $9M) and some foreign dude who's never played in the NBA on the roster as PG. If you're a team with championship aspirations, that's too thin/unsure. And since Knicks are rich and don't care about money, as you know from what they gave Camby and Novak, they can afford to get a solid back up and and insurance against any injury to Lin or anyone else at 3 year $9M, which to them is obviously a back up's money.
Other than that, next year, Brooklyn Nets opens new stadium and people will be excited for that. And the only way for the Knicks to make sure that they're still the #1 team, they gotta have Linsanity. It doesn't make sense for them to lose him over what $10 M difference? Even if it's $30M, they wouldn't care. No chance.

Amir Johnson
Kyle Lowry
Tayshaun Prince
Rodney Stuckey
Charlie Villanueva
Thad Young
Jeff Green
Omer Asik
Luke Walton
Andy Varejao
Glen Davis
Jason Richardson
JJ Reddick
Trevor Ariza
Andray Blatche
Drew Gooden
Beno Udrih
Samuel Dalembert
Desagna Diop
Tyrus Thomas
Devin Harris
Shawn Marion
Brendan Haywood
Al Harrington
Wilson Chandler
Aaron Afflalo
Andris Biedrins
Mike Conley
Wesley Matthews
Metta World Peace
Kendrick Perkins
Josh Childress
Marcin Gortat
Channing Frye
Marvin Williams
Mo Williams
Paul Millsap
Marcus Thorton
Francisco Garcia
All of the bolded players healthy IMO have more basketball value to a team than Lin would. Not including a discussion of stock prices or the Chinese, I'd pat the Knicks on the back if they traded Lin for Lowry, Millsap, or Conley, especially Lowry or Conley as they are clearly better point guards and better fits on this team.
Edit: In addition, the majority of those contracts were handed out in a CBA that was nowhere near as punitive. Lastly, team fit is a big key, as Lin has already shown he struggles with our best two players. Even if he were worth his contract, which is very different than any player listed here in that they don't have a 200% third year kicker, you can't look at things in a vacuum. OJ Mayo has value around the league, but the Grizzlies let him go because his value exceeded what he could give them on their team.
Based on the absurd contracts handed out this FA period the new, punitive CBA hasn't changed anything. Once again, this is in reference to the players, posters, and commentators that are calling Lin's contract ridiculous (not in the structure (like Melo), but in the amount he's making). Thus, as far as that argument goes, it should, and must, be viewed in the vacuum of pay.
Now I'd agree Millsap and Conley are superior value at this point, but neither have the upside or potential of Lin (which would be the tipping point for me). Perkin, dudes sludge and a liability on the court if he isn't playing post defense (Sorry, if you only have one starter level talent, you aren't of superior basketball value to Lin). Same with Jeff Green-- a tweener that has one above average NBA skill: a decent outside shot. Chandler, a meh-player. AAA, depends on team, he's a good utility guy to top off a contender. Varejao, healthy, similar value, but lacks the x-factor of Lin.
Still, Lin's contract is in the top 80% -- and could be a complete steal (getting an above average starter for less than 10 is a great deal). If so, you trade away the BAD contracts (Amare, scrubs) and keep Lin when the tax time comes. That's the point.

This stuff is getting completely out of control. MSG really needs to resolve this sooner rather than later - or half this board will have a cardiac event.

Now I'm starting to understand--if Linsaniacs make it hard for other Knicks fans to root for Lin, you can only imagine how Lin's teammates feel after going through Linsanity first-hand. They have to be like, "enough already, this is over the top, out of control."

It's a better comedy than most movies currently showing.

JR's underlying point is wrong and he's even stupider for saying it to the press.
Using those examples actually support what JR is talking about.
Two of those players are infinitely better than Lin.
And really he isn't a 5 year players...two year were essentially cut from him.
You do know that Eric Gordon has only played 205 games in his 4 years, so essentially he is only a 2.5 year player going by your logic.
Eric Gordon hasn't played due to injury, not lack of skill or even being not drafted.
And he missed almost the entire last season due to injury, so put those 200 games into three seasons like they belong.

If Jlin was the next coming of MJ I think we would keep him,
our talent scouts are very very good among the best in the league you guys know this..
they know he might have just flamed out, Jlin knows he isnt even that good thats why he wanted to go out on a high note because he didnt even think he could keep it going.
thats why 85% still cant play..
shump will lock this dude down and make him look bad next year and I personally CANT WAIT!!!

Jason kidd is thankful that this lin thing is the biggest thing in sports now. If it wasn't we'd have an 18 page thread talking about how jkidd is a bad influence on lin lol

Where did JR says he hopes Lin lives up to it? He said that in 3 years Lin won't be worth $15m, and that he is basically so convinced about this that it would bother him up until then.
I think you're misreading my post.
We meaning most fans and JR do not feel Lin isn't worth the contract, and hasn't earned it.
