Re: **The Official Karl-Anthony Towns Thread**
Lock is a strong word, but he's certainly well on track if he can sustain a long career.

So, how do Wolves fans feel now?
Absolute lock without injuries, in my opinion; not even close to me.

Anything at all? Yeah. Owner says it has been offered with no timetable for KAT to sign it, KAT has hinted at needing to talk about some things before signing, and Wolves apparently expect him to sign at some point.

So no clarity on what Towns holdup might be or when Towns might resolve his hold up?
Basically same as two weeks ago?

Pretty much, I am wondering if Minnesota is trying to hold out on a Player Option like they did with Andrew Wiggins, but regardless, there is no rush on the process.

The rumors and evidences say that he does not get along with J. Butler.
Maybe this is one of the reasons that he has not signed yet his new contract? Time will tell

Where si you see that?
What's the possibility he'll sign a 2 + 1 (player option) deal. Gives him a freedom to force his way out of he doesn't like it here.

More possible than I am comfortable with, to be honest. He would be sacrificing 2.3 million dollars by doing so (5% raises compared to the 8% Minnesota could give him), but after the full, three-years of the contract, he could receive a starting salary at 30% of the cap rather than 25%, which would be a net gain of slightly under 2.8 dollars (5.1 million more on season four; 2.8 million not taking into account any additional years involved). If I was him and was weary about staying long-term, I would negotiate a 3+1 deal with another team at the end of the season (if Minnesota refused to provide that structure), and ride out the three years until I could get the higher starting salary (especially given that a small jump in the projected cap could make this number substantially higher than expected overall.
If he truly wanted to leave though, he would take a 2+1, which is a frightening thought, but I am hoping things end up getting negotiated.

I don't think kats problem is the contract. He knows he's a max player here or for another team. I don't think he particularly likes thibs or jimmy (likely both).
I can see thibs and butler talking on the phone and kat and wiggs talking, but both sides just dont seem to want to talk to each other. Last year, i think wiggs also had some questions, hence one of the reasons for his delay.

And at the end of the day, he signed it. But before he did, there were months of people freaking out about if it was going to happen or not. Rinse, repeat.
It just doesn't make sense for someone to turn down that kind of money. This will get done, I'm honestly not concerned about it.

Wolves would be absolute morons to offer that. You offer the 5 year max and that's it.

Sure the team should offer 5 year deal. . But he could say no and want a 2+1.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
